The green rug is from Urban Outfitters, though I think they discontinued it...just this week? :-( You might get lucky on CL or ebay? A similar braided rug is available in a round shape (yellow and blue) from Land of Nod.

The link in the post for the cheaper rug is wrong, it is linking to the lamp. Love that rug, though. I like it much more than the anthro one.

I can't work out how to log in as the author of this post. But if I could, since I am the author of this post, I would assure you that it was meant to be tounge-in-cheek. I find Kanye's tweets about decor hilarious, and wanted to share that joy with you all. I am very sad that this post is being lumped in with the rabbit. Kim and Kanye did nothing to deserve that.

Good to know about those West Elm pendants, I have been lusting after them forever. Are they able to be hung as a plug-in pendant light, or do they have to be wired?

I think balloon animal makers are mad. Sometimes your friends just have weird skills that kids love and you invite them and the kids think it's mad. Doesn't cost anything more than just some beer or something either.

@annef have you considered suspending the flying Star Wars ships from the ceiling, something like this?

The clock is a mid-century design classic, I think even in the collection at MoMA? This one is the authorized re-issue of the original. Sure you can get a knock-off pretty easily online, but there is something special about owning a piece of design history.

I agree that strollers get a lot of wear. But there are freak occasions where a stroller gets sold on CL when actually it has had very little wear - it was a gift, the owner didn't like it after a month or two etc. I agree these occasions aren't the norm, but you have 9 months - being patient for the right deal can really pay off! Perhaps you'll only save $50-$100, but that is actually a lot of money when you think about it.

I should have added, I am not allowed to paint. I really wish I could, but I live in student housing and they are pretty strict about these things. Great ideas though, keep them coming!

just_kazari - do you think part of why they were so precious is because you had so few?

I find that with less toys my kids appreciate each individual toy they have so much more. When there is just a mass of stuffed animals, rather than getting individual attention they just become another thing for dumping out in a huge pile.

Where are you roseisred? I live north of Boston in the family dorms on a campus, we collect toys and clothes for families traveling here to study from Asia, Africa etc. Lots of the kids come here with nothing. They would love your toys!

CurlyVanessa - have you thought about putting some drawers or shelves in there, just to tidy all the clutter up? We did that in my son's closet - so much better to get items out of a drawer than out of a tangle of random stuff. Also, we found those behind the door shoe holders pretty useful for sorting out smaller things?

The number one thing is you are going to want to get everything off those benches and away, to declutter and bring in the look of more bench space. That especially includes your little breakfast bar where you have the two stools, get all those appliances out of there and find a new home for them. Perhaps you can put the microwave under your kitchen island? But don't overcrowd that either. Good luck with your sale!

My parents' place had these huge glass doors leading to outside, and one afternoon had gone out and accidentally left them open. I was hanging out upstairs watching tv and thought I could hear something downstairs, a weird noise. When I got downstairs I realized AN ENTIRE FLOCK OF BIRDS had flown in the house. Not just one, at least 2 dozen birds, and they couldn't work out how to get out.

Needless to say, the towel method didn't work that time.
