The before pic looks like my backyard - except my backyard is much longer. I plan on using the back 1/3 as a vegetable garden, the rest will be VERY similar to the after pic. Cutting grass SUCKS!

I side w\the neighbor. I'm a non-smoker with smoking neighbors. If I'm indoors with the door open - the neighbor's smoke always filters into my home through the screen door. While I can tolerate other's smoke when I'm outside - I do not want to smell it in my house.

Have I mentioned that the smoke bothers me? No. They knew their 3 outdoor pit bulls prevented me from enjoying my backyard, but took no action. I can't imaging they'll stop smoking on the front porch just for little ol' me.

I own a Lane drop-leaf table exactly like the one in #4. Cost me $50.00 at a local thrift store.

I do live w\black and yellow.

My wood floors and front door (including frame) are painted glossy black. My walls and all woodwork are painted golden yellow. My sofa is brown, chairs are rattan with black metal legs - all other furniture is walnut.

I think it's the neutral furniture that helps to avoid the 'bumblebee' look for me.

Check the thrift stores. I found a gorgeous walnut MCM credenza at the Salvation Army store for $14.95. It houses my TV on top, and DVR, WII, and bar inside the cabinets and drawers.

I have two. 1st, a circa 1965 54" walnut credenza by Stanley in the living room. It holds my 46" flat panel, DVR, DVD player, and Nintendo WII on one side. The other side is used as a bar. The 3 center drawers are for mail storage.

2nd, an Ikea Bjursta sideboard in the dining room. It holds the dishes (which I use everyday), flatware, and table linens on one side. The other side holds my art supplies.

Love the triptych over the dining table - very "Mad Men"! Is it vintage, or can it be purchased somewhere?

Is that the Corona sofa from Macy's? I have a similar sofa, and had 2 existing area rugs I'd purchased from Target. They're latte-colored shag, with a wide, espresso-colored shag border.

I don't know if Target still sells the bi-colored rug, but they do still sell the espresso rug, and the latte rug. Either one would work perfectly with a neutral color scheme, and the rugs hold up really well. I've had mine for YEARS!

I would contact RnB's Customer Service, also. I had a similar problem with ripped seams (3 times) on the Petrie sofa I'd purchased from Crate & Barrel. Twice they sent me a new sofa. The third time I asked to have an upholsterer come to the house because I was tired of moving furniture around. I'd bet RnB would replace your sofa - wouldn't hurt to call them.

My new LG fridge does the same thing. My previous fridge was about 20 yrs. old, so imagine my suprise - i thought someone had sent me a text message. It took a few minutes to locate the source of the beeping. Now I like it!
