As an artist I always wonder: what is it with this term "wall art"? As opposed to floor or ceiling art? Or does wall art mean -- not really art, but rather a bunch of stuff on the wall?

P.S. Unlike pennylane I have never sanded between coats of tung oil. To my eye it looks great.

Keep the paint and wallpaper as it is. What you need is a fabulous rug to tie it all together and give a bit of relief and balance to the intensity of the blue. It's beautiful, but it's a lot. Get some pictures on the walls and a wonderful rug, and you'll like your white trim better.

I usually volunteer to bring dessert. If the offer is accepted I always discuss with the host -- "How about a coconut flan, that might be nice with the curry-- or would you prefer a fruit tart, or something chocolate?" That way, you don't mess up the balance of the meal. If the offer of dessert is refused, I ask if there's something else I can help with. If the answer is no, I bring flowers and something non-perishable like excellent olives, or Marcona almonds. I suggest that my hosts feel free to serve it or keep it for later, whatever they prefer.

I grew up in and still live in Massachusetts. I use both. Usually it's Dinner, as "what's for dinner?" or "dinner is on the table." But when I invite someone for "Sunday supper" or "a simple supper after the movie" I mean omelets or hearty soup, not a three course meal. It can be exquisite -- caviar, or truffled scrambled eggs. Supper usually means smaller, or more intimate, to me.

It's rude to correct others usage, and I hate to sound like a schoolmarm, but I have seen this error several times on this site. If it were me, I'd want to know the about the error. I think they are doorstops. Padded bricks covered with knitted or crocheted covers. Dangerous on the stairs for sure.

I would paint the walls a rich apricot. And get some black lamp shades.

These look like 3-D CAD renderings, not photographs -- so it's virtual rather than actual. That said, I would love to spend a few days here ... it's probably not a practical long-term dwelling place, but as a short term rental, I think it's genius.

Sewing: When we were both 10, my friend Nancy and I made matching dresses out of leftover curtain fabric. Her Mom taught us how.
Compromises: My always-too-skinny budget.
Modernism: My first house was a cool 50's split level
ranch. And I knew it was cool even though this was the 70's.
Dishes: still hate 'em
Cook: Acquired a copy of Julia child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking when I was 14, then cooked my way through it. After that, I could fly solo
