I spent $180 on a lamp from Design Within Reach which was on sale, down from $380. I also bought a Nelson bubble lamp years ago for $250 or so. I'm currently considering shelling out $600 on Patrick Townsend's Orbit chandelier. I've been in love with it forever but I can't quite seem to pull the trigger on that one!

We have wall to wall seagrass in our family room that the previous owners installed. So far it's been down for eight years and it still looks great. Having said that we don't eat in that room so there aren't any stains. Some people have complained about how hard the seagrass feels on their feet but our family love it on our feet after the initial couple of weeks of "I can't believe how painful this is to sit on". I'm currently looking into seagrass look carpets for our upstairs. I'd happily do wall to wall seagrass but my husband wants something softer for the kids to lol about on.

We were in Paris and waited in line at the Louvre on a weekday. The line was huge. I can only imagine how long it would be on a free weekend day! In stark contrast to the various museums in London that we visited. Free every day and not over crowded!

You can buy something similar to the Muuto hooks from cb2. They are called dot hooks and you get three different sizes for $10! I own three sets and I love them. They are darker in color than the Muuto hooks and they don't have that rounded profile. They are flat on the surface but they look great in multiples and are a good version of the Muuto hooks.

My kids are 5 and 8 and I'd highly recommend perplexus, rush hour and mastermind. Lots of the other suggestions sound great too.

What is the fabulous ceiling light fixture that is in the den? It looks like modern off set metal and glass candles. I love it and hopefully it doesn't cost thousands!

I have two mistakes sitting in my entryway/living room. One is a round Ikea mirror that I planned on wrapping in leather to look like a captains mirror. That never happened. The mirror belongs in a modern bathroom. The other is a faux cowhide rug that looked great online, and my husband and I didn't want the real thing. It looks so fake and has matted oddly over the years, The rest of the living room looks great but it's missing a coffee table and has done for four years because I can't afford what I really want and any options I've looked at would look rubbish, much like the faux cow and round Ikea mirror.

My son missed the cut off by a month. He is gifted and was finding kindergarten work woefully dull. The school district have said he is more than capable of work several grades above what he is currently doing. He is also tall, mature, and very outgoing. They have tested him as gifted and he does one supplemental gifted class a week. However, they are hesitant to accelerate him since so many other patents hold their kids back in school to ensure they are the oldest children in class. So if they agreed to accelerate my son, he woud be in a class with many kids as much as 18 months older than him. I think it's all ridiculous. There are children in his current class who were held back and are clearly finding the work far too easy. Current research shows that kids do better in school by learning from older kids. Unless there is legitimate concern that the child isn't ready, why hold them back?

Two Kids' Rooms in a Brooklyn Brownstone Home By Novogratz

I think the Novogratzes are at their best when they do kids rooms. I love so much about both these rooms but I was really underwhelmed with the portrait artwork. On the other hard I loved the two other framed pieces in the girls room (Mona Lisa and truck). The ceilings, chandeliers and wallpaper were great too.

I love the after kitchen! I am not a fan of cherry and would have happily painted it too. Te cement board backsplash looks wonderfully chalky and honing the marble is a great idea. The "before" kitchen was good quality but like you, I wouldn't appreciate the color of the cherry cabinets or the countertop. I think you dd a splendid job!
