My grandma had wooden stairs in her house and the entire family had fallen down them at one point or another. I lived with her for a while and on a regular basis my feet would slip out from under me and I would skid down the remaining stairs on my butt. I think it's important that your home be a reflection of you. If bright colors are you, and the idea of neutral walls make you wince, then bright colors it is! There are few things worse than not feeling 'at home' in your own home.
