Thanks so much to everyone for your lovely comments. We love our house and it was a pleasure to share it with you.

Christel Cloud - my daughter's curtains were made with the Ikea fabric called Monalis. It's on their website.

Erin Scissorhands - The purple doors are painted with Pratt and Lambert "Secret".

KelleyK - In regards to different gender kids sharing a room/small space. Yeah, it's not easy or ideal, but you deal with it. Mine shared a room and slept in a bunk-bed until earlier this year when my daughter was 10 and my son was 7. They had the usual fights about who was messier and so on. A few months ago we converted the laundry room into a tiny bedroom for my son and it's definitely better.

Kristine in SB - I'm sorry but I don't know where the kitchen/dining room table is from. My brother and his wife gave it to us. It actually sat outside for a while giving it that nice patina.

To those doubting that this is really 700 square feet - well, it is. I don't know what to tell you. Maybe it's the lighting or the camera lens that make it look bigger - who knows? The kitchen is also the dining room. The living room and kitchen are only divided by a counter, so really it's one big room. The bathroom is about 7' by 5'. The only part that is not included in that 700 sf is the office and I said that in my interview. We're not choosing to live in a tiny house to prove something. It was our first house and when we bought it the prices were quite high - this was all we could afford. With the market the way it is now, we're not going to sell yet so you just deal with it and make the best of it. It definitely gets crowded and I do look forward to having more space soon, but we're a very close family because of the tight quarters. We're moving to London next summer and hoping for something a bit bigger.

Thanks again!

P.S. I did not put Gracie in the pictures! She just followed the photographer from room to room, the little attention hog.

Thanks for all the positive comments! It's not for everyone, but we love it. The large round chairs in the living room are insane, I know - black indian print fabric - it doesn't quite work, but my kids love them. To KitaMiami: On the floors I used glossy deck paint with primer underneath and a couple of coats of poly on top (not too much or it yellows.) My kids have trashed them a bit by roller-skating around the house, so I'll probably re-paint soon, maybe a pale blue-gray. To Lesley: yes, my husband made the kids bunks out of 2' x 4's and plywood. To thesmilequeen: the lampshades are from urban outfitters sale dept. Thanks again!
