I use my rooted Nook Color as a cheap and temporary alternative until something better shows up. Since it's rooted it has full access to Droid Market. No 3G so I have to use wifi tethering through my phone. Non iPad Alternatives Flag this comment	12/27/10 11:00 AM
I don't recommend Vestax and Numark hardware...I haven't used the ones mentioned above, but had issues with the quality, mostly busted faders that bleed out or have noise. I use a Serato Scratch Live and Rane TTM hardware. Rane's faders are unbeatable. They can take a beating and they're extremely accurate. Serato software isn't the best and took me a bit to get used to. I didn't find it to lack any significant features (based on what I've seen of other products, which isn't much). Depending on what kind of DJ you are, turntables might still be the best option. I found it difficult to do certain things on the small wheels since I'm so used to the large diameter of a turntable...crabs, flares, lasers, etc. Professional DJ Controllers for Computers Flag this comment	12/16/10 4:49 PM
My TLR using 120 film makes magnificent photos. I guess having only 12 frames makes you really think. All my passphrases are stored in a plain text file, but PGP encrypted (which can be done for free). The file is stored on on a micro sd card on my Droid phone; I also keep a backup of the PGP keys and files on a usb drive at home. How Do You Store Your Passwords? Flag this comment	9/27/10 1:59 PM
Leaving your devices unattended for any period of time is a bad idea. There are not only risks of hardware theft, but also risks associated with having someone other than yourself access to data on your devices (e.g. malware exploits on thumb drives). People should also be aware that the risk/probability of being attacked is much higher through public access points (e.g. rogue AP's, ARP spoof, etc.). If you really must leave your devices unattended, lock out the console with a pass phrase...encryption is a must. Gadget Security in Public Spaces? Why not go right to the source??? That's probably the best thing to do! I'm no expert, but there's always a possibility that these may pre-date Knoll's. I noticed the chairs featured in Breuer's most recent show, as well as the last Bauhaus show at the Moma, looked nothing like Knoll's. What Might These Wassily Chairs Be Worth? Hello. Do you have the exact dimensions? I'm not 100% certain, but I was told knock off's tend to have the size and shape slightly off. Nice decks; pre-fab DJ tables never seem to work right. Just a personal preference, not a fan of the large gap between the turn table and mixer. I suppose if your just mixing it makes no difference, but it might slow you up if your juggling or cutting. Also, I like to have the key board hovering high over the mixer (I used an Ergotron arm...it might be about foot off the decks)...it makes things a bit more "low-drag". I'm not sure what your using, but Serato's don't work too well near speakers. I'm not sure if it's true, but the needles might pick up distortion from the vibrations and cause it to go slightly out of whack. Again, that just might be internet nonsense. Again, cool setup! idaladala - there appears to be a scale on the floor plan. It does indeed appear about 360 sf (I say it's about 36 x 10), but who knows how accurate it might be. Nevertheless, this looks great. It's so far beyond what I would expect a trailer to look like. It's excellent!
