I think that Apartment Therapy is running out of ideas if this is a before and after.

Next time I put a mirror and change out my hand towels I'll be sure to post it for all to see!

I don't normally post BUT this house is not interesting or rock and roll. Feels very much like any other suburban home with some paint and a trip to Ikea.

Rock and roll style to me is blacks, reds, studded belts and really an eclectic style that makes you think "wow, I wish I could be that cool."

Somehow I don't think this person has been to a rock show in quite sometime...

One thing I found out recently was that the brand Life Fitness was made in the Chicago suburbs. They are the largest work out brand and mostly made here. A few of their items are made in Hungary but I'm proud to know that a electronics fitness brand is made in the usa and my own backyard. I love hearing stories of American made stuff.

I think that party looks so inspiring! Well dressed. Well propped. Well done I say! I mean sure it's a photoshoot and for a magazine but I think it's inspiring and makes me really rethink my next party where I typically throw out a bag of chips and a 6 pack of high life.

Wow. So much hatred for the bedroom... As with all small spaces there are rooms that challenging but the master bedroom has not been one of them... Unfortunately it just does not photograph well... Layout has really not been and issue or decorating it's really the photograph. There is no space in the master closet as the washer dryer is in there due to space restrictions... If you saw it in person I think your opinion would be much different. 5 pictures was the max and the assignment was to see from both ends of the room (living dining). Thanks for all the advice but we are perfectly happy with the master bedroom as it is comfortable, soothing and really comfortable to sleep and retreat too.. Our goal has never been to conform to what people believe are design standards. We experiment with different styles and layouts and honestly prefer not to have symmetrical design styles.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I will look up the gray color and get back to everyone. The bedroom is about 8x12. Long and narrow. Took quite a few measurements to get a bed that fit (thinnest frame possible). The nightstand on the left is one of the cubes from west elm that we deconstructed to make two separate table areas.(living room in front of window and the bedroom side table.) The painting is of birds. Flea market find we couldn't resist... Almost left it there. I wish we could submit more than 5 pics:)

Hey. I am the other William who owns this place. The light fixture is actually from Pier One clearance section one year and the paint I am unsure of the exact color. The prints are Picasso replicas. Most things were done on a budget and it is constantly changing. As for the bedroom. The picture is off in color. I tried color correcting it last night and still not working. As with most Chicago apartments it faces West so no light in the evening and just a little in the morning. It is a bit dark except in the summer months. Thanks for the support!

I'd love to see everyone's homes on here. So quick to judge but last time I checked design was individual and taste is subjective. Bold use of color. Some great ideas. Everything my personal taste. Not exactly. But lighten up.

I have them and love them. Most of the douchebags that take years realize what nice is will love them by the time you hate them. I've wanted them for many many years. Before they were in style and the are a very cool conversation piece.

Be careful what you sue people for. Things could get a lot worse. Smoke could be the least of your worries.

Apartment Therapy Chicago | CHI Good Questions: How to Deal with Neighbor's Smoke?

I love these arguments.

As a smoker I feel it is my right to smoke in my condo which I own and to keep my toxic fumes in my own home. I clean up after myself when I am on my balcony and never smoke in common areas.

That said, if my neighbor had a problem I would do my best to accommodate their requests. I would install new door thresholds to top the smoke from coming out and try to figure out the problem. I would even go as far as to put towels in front of the door.

But the fact of the matter is. It is your home and you can do what you'd like in there. Just as you as a neighbor maybe the loudest person on earth or cook curry all day long or leave your garbage on your balcony or whatever it is that annoys people, buildings with more than one unit are plagued with issues. The best thing you can do is to really just pick your battles and calm down.

Remember, without our taxes we pay for cigarettes you would be paying substantially more sales taxes and god knows what else to support the city you live in.

I love love love ABT. Bought my washer/dryer and garbage disposal from them. They are not as flashy with their offers like Best Buy or others but carry a wide selection of brands which for me was great. My w/d was from Europe and they were the only place in the area to carry it. Installation was prompt and took exactly as long as they said. Overall very happy!

hotels are nice too. i mean are people that concerned with guest accommodation's when they are saving hundreds of dollars? many times in the city our spaces do not allow for large spaces dedicated for guests. our rooms have to multi-task. so, my opinion is this. if you require a suite, then go to a hotel. if you require a place to sleep, then stay with friends.

I think this place is beautifully decorated but has the worst attitude of any lounge I've ever been too.

After a wedding this past September, a group of us stopped by to check it out. After waiting across the street at Pontiac for at least 1 1/2 hours for a table, we came back to check on our table they finally were going to seat us. Well, during that time 2 people went home after tiring of the wait. So, they made us put our name in again for another reservation with another hour wait.

I have been to many clubs/many bars/ many places in this city and love the exclusive nature of something new. But the attitude of the bouncer and watching pretty girls slip in while we're waiting was very very rude. I would not go to this place if all the bars in the world dried up.

Overall, a great decor with attitude to match.
