Hi Sunsetlane -- The bathroom cabinet is from Ikea. The bed is custom (though not for us!) from Room Service in LA.

Answers/responses to several folks...

@thorndale -- I actually completely agree with you! I would have LOVED to have put in more petite white appliances, but we bought the appliances with resale value in mind. And it seems like every buyer loves their stainless...

@julesandmochi -- Repainted the cabinets on site with a combo of a cheapy sprayer from Home Depot (which didn't give much better results than just rolling) for the boxes, and roller for the doors. I'm happy with the roller results, and am glad I didn't pay to have anything professionally sprayed.

@Briana -- Mixed on the cork. Full review here.

@The Sweetest, you're right! I didn't include a source for the wall-mounted wine rack. It is made by Vintage View, and I think we bought from Amazon.

@MzFitz -- We love the stove, but clean up spills IMMEDIATELY. The finish is not so easy to clean.

Penny tiles everywhere might be a "don't" worth doing, but that example at the Hotel St. Cecelia in Austin has the most poorly installed penny tile I've ever seen! The seam lines between the tile sheets are completely visible. That is a true DON'T.

For everyone who's curious, there's a full list of sources on my blog, specifically on this page.

@tcbb -- the bedroom is SW Heron Plume, just like the living room and most of the office, and we used "Harmony," which is their great no VOC product.

Thanks again for all the lovely notes! :-)

Hi all --

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback! You've all made it worth the hours of clean-up. :-)

A couple of answers on sources:

Wine rack on kitchen wall: Vintage View from here.

Knife holder: Bodum from here.

White egg crate: Anthropologie

@queenyellowsun: Virgo, and Mark is Sagittarius. :-)

@darkheart -- Thanks! The bathrooms both have skylights, actually, so the problem is the opposite. Plants in there get TONS of light, which has killed a few orchids. The plant that you see now is aloe vera, and it loves the light. Low light is tough, but I've had decent luck with some types of ferns (which also like humidity) and Chinese evergreens. But they'll still need some light. Good luck!

@Angela -- The blue vases are just inexpensive ones from Ikea.

Thanks, everyone, for all the nice comments!

@Cyrille -- The table/chairs set in the kitchen is from Amazon. The dining set is the Silverado table from CB2 and some green chairs that they don't make anymore.

@Threadbndr -- thanks! You can see more of the galley kitchen here. We spent so much time figuring out how to use that dead space at the end of the galley, but now we love our little eat-in and storage space.

Thanks, everyone! A few responses...

@pheebs79 -- I'm with you on the rug, actually! It was $100 at Target, and we have yet to upgrade. :-)

@lazy_lurker -- the sofa is the Petrie sofa from Crate and Barrel, in a non-stock color. The coffee table is from Boom Designs, purchased years ago from Room Service in LA as a beat up floor model. Same for the coordinating cubes all around the condo.

@citipearl -- I agree re: a rug in the bathroom, but we have small dogs who for some reason relieve themselves on bath mats, so we had to go with wood instead of fabric.

@claireunderwear -- the chandelier is from Lamps Plus. Actually one of the very first things we bought for the place. I think now we could have gone with something a little bigger, but I do love it. :-)

Thanks again, everyone! You're making my day with your lovely comments.

Sarah Rae and Faith -- I feel really defensive on your behalf! I wonder if people would have been so upset about you reviewing a Kraft product with artificial this-and-that if your conclusion had been negative? Very fashionable to hate on the big corporations, after all.

Thank you for writing this with the belief that we're all adults. Not all of us are perfect. Not all of us eat 100% organic all the time and avoid all traces of artificial ingredients. If there's a product that could help some of us drink more water when we're watered out, then you're doing us a service reviewing it. We can all decide what to do with the info, or we can ignore it completely. But either way, thanks!

You Can Do it Yourself: Reinventing the Kitchen

What a great idea, to group all of these together as motivation.

The idea of taking on our kitchen as a DIY project was daunting, but we just finished it for $6000 including appliances, and it was SOOOO worth getting over that hurdle. See pics here if you're interested. :-)

Bravo, AT, for heading up to the frozen tundra. Go Pack Go!

Lovely house, and I can't wait to check out Kirsty's blog... but where is all of the Packer paraphernalia hiding??? Every house in Green Bay has it somewhere. ;-)

It's not the world's *most* economical solution, but I just put in some pull-out drawers and door-mounted organizers in our revamped kitchen, and they make a HUGE difference. (You can see them here.)

Wholeheartedly support fridge for all grains. I keep rice and flour in there, along with oats when we have them.

The weevil eggs come in the grains already, so the key is killing them and/or not getting them to hatch.

My list, and whether I have these things currently...

1. A garage or basement to hide away all the clutter. (Nope)
2. A huge, comfortable yet sleek sofa from Room Service in LA. (Used to, now doesn't fit)
3. A real kitchen garden (No, only containers on the balcony)
4. Loads of white lacquer (Yes)
5. A dining table that will comfortably sit at least 12. (Nope, only 6)
6. A big walk-in closet and vanity in my bedroom. (Yes, and I'm forever grateful)
7. Access to a ski slope. (A girl can dream)
8. A big chef's kitchen. (Nope, though our galley is surprisingly functional)
9. A craft and workshop area for DIY projects. (Nope)
10. Enough dishes, flatware and stemware to serve several courses for 8 without having to wash anything. (YES! And best series of investments ever.)
