Since when is being called trendy the worst thing anyone could conceive of? Not every thing in everyone's home has to be The Most Original Thing I Just Thought Up Myself. So, I have a chevron shower curtain and a terrarium. In a few years, I probably won't. And the world will have continued turning, unaffected.

I once read a smart tip on clothes purging - hang all of your clothes with the hooks facing the wrong way (hooking towards you) and if the hanger hasn't been turned around in 6 months, chances are it's safe to get rid of. I guess you would make an exception for season stuff.

I bet you could do something similar with a bundt pan if the opening was big enough. That could make for a cute little low arrangement.

Re: the desk and where it was purchased. I am pretty sure I got it at Chiasso, and it was on super clearance. I don't think I even paid $100 for it. But I don't see it on the site now. I will do some more hunting and see if I can find it.

And thanks for the compliments!

it looks custom built to me - the way it is set right into the niche like that. the good news is it looks pretty simple - a carpenter could recreate it pretty easily i would think.

a good cheap way to get utensil holders is to check out the gardening/outdoor section of your local super store. a lot of them are similar sizes, without the "kitchen accessories" price tag.
