*can't just refrain Kirsten's Bluebird of Happiness House House Tour |

I guess I just don't understand -why- it has to be brought up in this particular comment section at all (a design blog?), and why, if someone doesn't like something, they just refrain from viewing and commentary? This person (whose home is AMAZINGLY cheery and brilliantly and brightly curated) wants a deer head. So what. Lots of other people on other tours will want them, too, and have them in their homes. What are you hoping to express, other than your own squeamishness, by saying you don't like it? You can't, like, -disagree- with how a complete stranger has decided to decorate their homes... I guess THAT's the internet for ya. Kirsten's Bluebird of Happiness House House Tour |

Regarding The Lump- it should read "you are not ready for the Lump to have a sitter," not "the Lump is not ready for a sitter." My Lump went with sitters from the first week I was home with her. Granted, they weren't of the "13 year-old looking to make extra cash on the weekend" variety- they were friends with children and our own parents. But still. Adult parties are not for children, unless the children are explicitly invited. Trust your precious Lump with someone who has some experience with children and go have yourself a good time for a few hours! Bringing Children to the Party: The New Etiquette Dilemma |

2,000 calories is A LOT for most people, especially us cube-rats. I aim for 1200-1500 net each day with at least 40 minutes of cardio and strength training. If you're eating whole foods and/or a plant-based diet, you'd (or I'd, at least) feel uncomfortably full eating 2,000 calories on a daily basis... What Does 2000 Calories Look Like? I'm pretty sure a person's monogram isn't a "trend"- or, if it is, it's been running for hundreds (thousands?) of years, so it's probably here to stay. The Trend Continues: Letters in Decor |

I take wine, dessert, or a small bouquet of flowers, depending on what's appropriate for the host/day/time of day/event. I feel like buying household items is a little more permanent, somehow. Like, "Hey, every time you see this towel, you can remember the time that I brought you a present just because you invited me for dinner." If that's the relationship you have with your hostess, that's awesome. But it'd be a bit out of place for the kind of invitations I receive. :) Hostess Gift Ideas: Under $20 |

We're sorta going through this for the first time, though we had a few years before we were married to work it out some kind of a pattern. His family is more laid back about when holidays are celebrated and with whom- mine is the (god love them) passive-aggressive set (two sets- I have divorced parents). With babies in the picture now, my mom actually did the nicest thing ever and suggested we combine with his parents for Thanksgiving. And all sets of parents have a plan for when we're celebrating Xmas. My husband and I are in agreement that these are the only two holidays we're doing this for, though. Everything else- we're hosting. We have the baby, so we are the ones who really do not want to be driving all over the place. We're very lucky that all of our parents are alive and live close to us. VERY lucky. But inevitably, someone always gets hurt feelings about us or one of our siblings, and you can either address it and be named the holidays' biggest a-hole, or you can grin and show up with a cake and pray for peace. Please keep the My Room posts- I enjoy them. There are plenty of techie/homeowner/entertaining friends posts that I happily scroll right past. I know they're satisfying someone else's eye. :) Emerson Kate's Soft, Vintage-Feel Nursery My Room |

Our baby will be about a month and a half old this Xmas. We're not getting her a single thing, and might not until she's old enough to know the meaningfulness behind the gifts. We have too many relatives, all within a few miles, who will see to it that she doesn't go without. :) I'm definitely heartened to know, though, that a lot of these gifts she'll be receiving a homemade. In the meanwhile, my husband and I can give a romantic gift or two to each other by the Xmas tree. :) Do Our Children Expect Too Much for Christmas? the frugal girl |

It does look awesome but I'd never let myself try it. I am envisioning patches of no paint and too much paint and tracers where I've accidentally gone over the same place twice. Ha. :) DIY Idea: Paint Roller Printed Walls The Painted House |
