I have the Banana Guard (http://www.bananaguard.com/). It's shaped in such a way that it fits ANY banana, regardless of size and curve. I've seriously never had a banana that wouldn't fit. This guard doesn't look like it can claim the same thing.

Very handy, since I hate eating a bruised banana.

Egg whites are used in this way to clarify maple syrup sometimes too.

I did a search for "wooden toddler swing" since I thought that would yield some nice options. This one is really cute:

STEVENPORTLAND, that is a bummer, but I'm sure it will be delicious regardless.

The reason for chilling the ice cream mixture before adding the lemon juice is because warm milk + lemon juice = cheese (it curdles).

Personally, I would do roman shades for those windows - 3 separate roman shades so that you have a shade to fit each of the three windows. Nice, clean lines and minimalist.

MsScrabble - Pretty sure the 5oz. bottles would hold 5oz. of sauce. Since an ounce is a measure of weight, the volume of the 5oz. bottle would be based on 5oz. of water.

4oz. is 1/2 cup so 5oz. would be 1/2 cup plus 1/8 cup (5/8 cup).

I had the same dilema in the first year we were members of a CSA - I had no idea what to do with fennel. I found this recipe for Potatoes Au Gratin (Scalloped Potatoes) with Fennel and Bacon. It was delicious!

Meindert - what we call paper towels aren't actually being used like towels in North America. I think they're called kitchen paper or kitchen roll in Europe? That's what people are talking about. We use them to wipe up spills in the kitchen - especially things like raw meat juices that you don't want to use cloth for. We always use paper towel (kitchen roll) to drain bacon on after frying, or to clean up pet barf or pet accidents.

We do use terry cloth hand-towels in the bathroom and kitchen to dry clean hands. I usually throw them in the wash after a week or two... sometimes longer. Same goes for bath towels... a week or two, sometimes longer.

Love the confessions! I leave the radio on (CBC Radio 1) all day for my dog, drive a V8 RWD car 10 km to work, and couldn't live without avocados from mexico and coffee from who-knows-where (guatemala usually). Phew! That feels better.

No, I wouldn't eat it - even if I could stomach the idea of eating any sort of insect. Cicada's are special - they have such a long life cycle for such a short time being "out" for us to hear. It'd be like eating a butterfly to me. They're just too special.

(I'm in Canada) We have tons of Cadbury products - we even have Cadbury outlet stores at some outlet malls!

My favourite Cadbury would be a tie between Caramilk bar and the Crunchie. I actually had to look up a product list because I don't pay attention to the manufacturer when buying mass-market chocolate bars.

Aero is Nestle, by the way (saw someone mentioned it). I've only seen Flake at the duty-free shop, with arabic writing on it. Tried it and didn't like it. Too messy and the chocolate itself was not good.

It's true that manufacturers make their chocolates different depending on which country they will be sold in. Same with beer, by the way. Molson Canadian made for export to the US isn't as good as Molson Canadian that is sold in Canada. Sorry. =(

Here's a website with lots of sausage recipes:
http://thespicysausage.com/sausagemakingrecipes.htm

I haven't tried any of the breakfast sausage recipes yet, but I have made the hot italian sausage a few times and it's delicous! It's really easy to mix it up and then freeze in 1/2 lb. or 1 lb. portions. It's very handy for pizza, pasta sauce and for making Olive Garden's zuppa toscana (yum!).

Lots of good feedback for oatmeal so I won't add any.

For couscous, don't make it on the stove at all. Make it in a bowl. Add boiling water (or chicken stock) to the couscous in a bowl, stir briefly and cover (pot lid or plate works great). Let it sit for 10 minutes, fluff with a fork and it's ready to eat!

I have these and just like blackcatherine (and the included instructions) said, the mold works only on a freshly cooked and peeled still hot egg.

It works great though, and you can add a special touch by lightly dyeing the egg afterwards.

Just thought to add... another idea would be an in-wall mounted tv, with the plug inside the in-wall box. Just like how some kitchens have the microwave in-wall.

My parents have a tv in their kitchen and it looks great! Their kitchen table is a booth, with full-height walls on 3 sides. The tv is a small flat screen, wall-mounted in the booth (flat against the wall). It works great! Reminds me of those nifty diners with tvs in the booths.
