I would like to know about the building pictures.

I also love the way you display the 3 clocks. Like a fine sculpture. What is behind them?

I think some of the angles of the photos make the rooms look more crowded then they would feel if you were sitting there. I like it. I recently purchased a Kent-Coffey dresser that makes me smile every time I look at it. I'd love to have an ad to frame! We used to have a big plastic green bowl like the bowls you have...same design. Everything looks neat and clean...and fun!

I don't think this home is cluttered. Clutter is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like sparse surfaces and walls...but I think this looks fine. Maybe it's just not everybody's style.

I'm surprised at all the critics. This little project shows great creativity....all on a minimal budget in a basement room. I wish I had this much flare.

I really like the silhouttes in the first 2 photos. I can imagine an interesting wall collection of silhouttes. But spreading them out all over the house....I'm wondering if that would be too much evenutally. But it's your house, and it should be what you like.

If the chair is comfortable and you can live with the style, since you can sew, why not re-cover it? Some community colleges have classes where you work on the chair and finish it by the end of the 6 or 8 weeks. I think the throws look very utilitarian, I wouldn't consider them part of the overall look. (If you don't actually use them, I'm not a big fan of them just hanging out in the room.) I think some curtains or other window treatments would really pull the room together and warm it up. Bring home some fabric swatches and see what you think. Sometimes you just have to take a chance. You could also ask a creative friend their feedback on some of your fabric choices, or if they would go shopping with you.

I think I'd try to scatter them thoughout the place if that's possible. Otherwise, if they like it, it's fine with me.

I don't think a one time sprinkling is going to permanently attract a bunch of varments.

Since this is the back of the house, I wouldn't have even worried about shutters here.

Why does everybody feel the need to pass judgement on somone else's taste? It would be a pretty boring world if we all liked the same things.

I can't believe it has to be so hard to find a decent quality couch at an affordable price. Reinforces the concept of recyling by purchasing something used, except it costs a small fortune to have anything reupholstered -- so you're back into the expensive arena.

I would go cheap and practical.

Start with a new paint color, get rid of the shelves and add artwork, get a nice curtain. Step back and see how this looks...maybe throw in a nice rug in front of the sink. I don't mind the light fixture, but it's cheap enough to replace it.

Replace the appliances with white as you need them. If you have money left over and want to do the counters, go for it. Althought I'm not crazy about the floor...I'd leave for know because it looks like it's tile. Make some mortgage payments for awhile.

Too many people find themselves unexpectedly sellling their houses after a short occupancy...pouring money into all new appliances and a floor when you don't "have" to have them now is too much for my way of thinking. And besides, the next tenant might not like vintage and not want to repay for your authenticity.

Don't paint the cabinets....get that thought out of your head.
