The Furminator cat brush works miracles at getting the dander off the cat before it gets on your carpet. I recently moved into a carpeted apartment and purchased the Eureka Pet Lover 439AZ (HEPA filter capable). It's about $60 (Amazon) and has a rotating brush and "pet paw" for furniture. Using of both of these seems to keep my apartment cat hair free.

I couldn't live without my Dirt Devil stick vac. Best thing is that I got it at Target's Labor Day sale for $8! So much more convenient than a broom and requires no dustpan.

I have a similar problem, minus the door. I have french windows and a small square one on the same wall both covered with mini blinds which I would love to take down. Looking forward to seeing suggestions for your place! From your photo, I might do floor to ceiling drapes from the same level for the french doors and the window. Your door is gorgeous and should be left as is.

Sometimes I clean after I get back from somewhere nice and don't bother to change. I do tend to have a better attitude about housekeeping when I'm in heels and a dress. It's less like work then.

I've personally had a lucky bamboo plant locked in a dark closet for several months which survived and even thrived in that environment without care or light. Also, golden pathos plants do well in artificial light and low light areas.

I'm another cat owner who thinks it's great that her cat doesn't even attempt to claw up her microfiber couch. I've had my new sofa for 2 weeks and my cat is still clawing at her old Ikea Poang chair. She's very fond of destroying furniture so I'm shocked. She's choosing to sleep on the microfiber sofa instead!

Great use of rugs on carpet! Beautiful space, I love it.
