A sofa that will last a lifetime will cost ya about 5 grand.

Sure you can by that $1500 sofa but it will not last ya as long as the 5 grand one will.

When ya put it all together the 5 grand sofa we just bought will be around till we croak if we choose. The $1500 not a chance.

In the long run, the 5 grand on is cheaper if you can afford the up front cost.

I think it is always good to check out furniture before you buy it. Especially sofa's, dining chairs, beds, etc ...

That said, and understanding the need to save, I find it rude for buyers to go into a shop and then go buy it online cheaper. This seems a bit like using the company you don't purchase from as your own personal resource. They are in business to do business, not be your personal try-out center.

I personally always shop locally!

While interesting, the problem with contemporary lighting is that, this is the place changing quickly in design and tends to look dated the quickest.

Stick with the classics.

I would echo sammigb's comments. This continuing green building movement seems to have lost it's soul. A second house is by definition wasteful. A large house with green materials is wasteful.

Part of the problem with building is the volume of products used. The home in this article still built on virgin land. It still used energy to create the materials. It probably sits for days empty while other around the world sit in the cold.

Green building materials are only part of the solution!
