I'd recommend The Sweet Life: Diabetes without Boundaries by Sam Talbot.

Talbot was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 12 and is also a professional chef. The recipes are good (some can be a bit too fancy but you can skip those) but mostly I really like how Talbot comes across in this book, like someone who has been there, understands the challenges re: dietary restrictions and tries hard to make you see that you have more options than you think.

I live in LA too (going on 3 years now) but grew up in NY. Early this morning I was wondering just when I became such a wimp that 50 feels cold to me! (Since I'm thinking of relocating to Philadelphia next year, I figure I better get over this, and soon!)

My get-cozy-quick strategy involves wolfing down my dinner so I can spend the rest of the night in my bedroom (the warmest room in the apartment) under a fleece blanket reading or watching movies on my laptop. Ironically enough my bedroom also has better lighting than the living room so it just feels better hanging out here.

I'm doing Thanksgiving solo for the first time and just called my mom back east for her recipe for her awesome turkey & stuffing recipe. This will be my first time roasting turkey so I'm excited, and glad I'll have no witnesses, just in case :-)

I'll also be making rice with peas (arroz con gandules--I'm Puerto Rican and its a must come Thanksgiving) and maybe sweet potatoes. Also have been wanting to make an apple pie for weeks now so I'll probably do that too.

Since it's just me, it means tons of leftovers but I figure this is much better than feeling sorry for myself that I have no where else to go this year.

I really don't see any style here, and since Katie is being touted as a buyer I really expected to see more "oomph" in this tour. The living room shelving was a definite disappointment.

And I gotta say, for a moment there I was confused, wondering why Katie was referring to herself in third person, when I realized it was the AT poster.

I love the Aeron chairs! My office has them for everyone, and in different sizes from small to large so that you can find one that fits your body well.

This is probably the most sedentary job I've ever had to date, and and am extremely glad for the chair. I don't care what it looks like, this is flat out the most comfortable chair ever. I can sit up or tilt back, and do, half the time without realizing it. The chair moves with me so that I'm always supported, always comfortable.

I have the exact same set up for my desk except the back of my sofa is exactly at the height of the table so that option is out :-(

But thank you Eclectic! for the idea about framing a small piece of cork board on a table top picture frame. I have a bunch of small frames I hadn't figured out what to do with yet. Fantastic!

Oh man, for me it was Menudo (Pre-Ricky Martin thank God. I'm Puerto Rican and back then it was like, of course you like Menudo LOL!) and Shawn Cassidy. Lots of Shawn Cassidy. I thought he was sooooo dreamy!

Had posters everywhere in my room except the ceiling only because my mom put her foot down.
