So is the spice blend everything except the pork in the linked recipe? Or not the vinegar as well?

Small jars are great but I want big jars, BIG ones, like these:

the ones on the top left, with cinnamon maybe?

Big jars are my white whale.

@irry, using a rice cooker sounds like my salvation to rubbery half-grey hard-boiled eggs. I've never used mine for anything but cooking rice though; how much water do you put in it? And do you use the steamer basket, or put the eggs directly in the water?

Gooseberry. I'll happily eat most other kinds of pie, but my favorite is definitely a butter crust gooseberry. Tart as can be, with sanding sugar on the top crust.

Apple I'd rather have in crisps, and peach in ice cream. And lemon curd straight out of the pan on a spoon.

I'll give them this: the ingredient list is way shorter than the Morningstar Farms stuff, of which I have breakfast sausage in my freezer for biscuits & gravy.

The Goya site lists the sabor de jamon as:
Salt, Monosodium Glutamate, Artificial Ham Flavor, Hydrolized Vegetable Protein, Silica (Anti-Caking Agent)

I'd be sketchy about saying it's vegetarian, without knowing more about what constitutes "artificial ham flavor".

I repeat my comment from two years ago on another useless "green" product AT wrote about: a "recyclable" recycle bin, aka a cardboard trash can.

It's becoming extremely frustrating that companies (and websites hocking their wares) claiming to be green go for the easiest, and LAST part of the original waste hierarchy. The words are in the order they are because of their effectiveness and importance. It's not RECYCLE, reduce, reuse; it's REDUCE, reuse, recycle. As in, QUIT BUYING SO MUCH SHIT!

Love this! Plants on balconies always makes apartment complexes look more homey instead of bland and boring.

My last apartment balcony was really similar: it faced east, but there was another building right next to mine that blocked all but maybe an hour or two of morning sun. I couldn't grow veggies, but I had plenty of geraniums, coleus, marigolds, and vincas, and my houseplants LOVED spending the summer out there.

My balcony now is the complete opposite: full sun and faces south. I can fit about 6 tomato plants, plus lots of herbs & lettuce & spinach & carrots. The houseplants have to stay inside during the summer though; there's no shade for them and it gets way too hot.

Love your aeonium and barrel cactus!

@tasterspoon, I'm a fan of beans, lentils, rice, orzo, popcorn, whole peppercorns, and other small foodstuffs in jars. Some of this I buy in bulk, but mostly it's putting smaller packages into larger ones. Plus if you have issues with bugs, glass is pretty good for keeping those out too.

@joco, airplants (tillandsias) also do well without direct sun. My previous apartment had east-facing windows that were blocked for all but an hour at most by the building next to me; all my ivies still thrived, though the variegated ones grew much more green. I even kept a pot of different succulents alive in the window, so it's definitely possible.
