My proudest moment was at the completion of my first sewing project -- a jumper for my then-toddler daughter (now 16). I was an adult when I learned to sew (at a class offered by Joann Fabrics for $5 a lesson), and my goal was to be able to make clothes for my children (I only had one back then -- I now have nine). Can't have too many 9x13 pans. We are a super-sized family, so every side dish is doubled and baked in two 9x13 pans. A few years back we bought a huge roaster oven (resembles a ginormous metal crock pot). This is perfect for baking that turkey, and frees up the oven for those aforementioned side dishes. Why do I think I should win this? Because we are a family of eleven -- yup, nine children -- so as you can probably imagine, we are also a family of do-it-yourselfers, in the name of frugality. If we can't build it, we can't afford to have it. My oldest two sons (one of which unscrewed every doorknob in the house with a screwdriver at the age of three), are becoming quite proficient in the use of tools lately, so it would be great to have an extra set around.
