My proudest moment was at the completion of my first sewing project -- a jumper for my then-toddler daughter (now 16). I was an adult when I learned to sew (at a class offered by Joann Fabrics for $5 a lesson), and my goal was to be able to make clothes for my children (I only had one back then -- I now have nine). This was one of those "two-hour" jumper patterns that took me about five weeks to complete -- but I was so proud once it was completed and on my baby. :)

Can't have too many 9x13 pans. We are a super-sized family, so every side dish is doubled and baked in two 9x13 pans. A few years back we bought a huge roaster oven (resembles a ginormous metal crock pot). This is perfect for baking that turkey, and frees up the oven for those aforementioned side dishes. And what would we do without that old trusty hand mixer?

Why do I think I should win this? Because we are a family of eleven -- yup, nine children -- so as you can probably imagine, we are also a family of do-it-yourselfers, in the name of frugality. If we can't build it, we can't afford to have it.

My oldest two sons (one of which unscrewed every doorknob in the house with a screwdriver at the age of three), are becoming quite proficient in the use of tools lately, so it would be great to have an extra set around.

Next on the agenda of things to build: bookshelves and triple bunks.
