I never know what kind of food to prepare for a group and I never know how much of it to prepare.

Compounding my stress is the fact that I only have 4 plates that match.

Keep looking! I once had an apartment across the street from a grabage dump in NYC and I ended up having to move out. It's not just the sound of the dumping itself, but also the beeping of the trucks as they back up. I always had to keep my windows closed which is a real shame if you are the kind of person who, like me, enjoys sleeping with the windows open in the fall, spring, etc.

I am dying to know where you got your curtain?! I have been on the hunt for one just like it but haven't had any luck.

To answer some of the questions, the walls are presently painted white, although it's what I would call "landlord white," a bit more of a neutral off-white. I'm open to painting them, although the ceilings are quite high so it would be a pretty serious undertaking; if I can get away with leaving them as is I would be happy. I haven't purchased any other furniture yet, so I'm not limited in that area. I will certainly be considering the suggestions made above when I go looking for chairs to go with the couch. They will indeed be ones that I'll use a lot, for lounging and such, which I realize I'll have to take into comsideration before I buy anything.

The couch was purchased at ABC, manufactured by McCreary Modern. It comes in a few different colors (all lovely), is 87 inches long and is very comfortable. I was so happy to find something that I liked the look of AND that was comfy - no easy feat!

Hi Ashley.. Your place is lovely! CAnyou tell me where the white couch is from (the one in front of the blue wall wit the treet stencil). I'm moving on the 1st of May and am having a really difficult time finding a couch that looks good, but is also comfy. I find that everything I come across is either one or the other. Yours looks like a nice blend, though.
