The big gray couch is from craigslist. I have no idea who made it! THe guy said it was custom made and used for photo shoots in Palm Springs, but who knows. It's not marked, but I've seen similar sofas...

Suemi: I made it - check it out HERE.

Nicerack: Yeah that Revival run by th tw ladies is awesome (I used to live right down the street. Like two blocks away). The other Revival thrift store chain is like a church thing - like Salvation Army. They are HUGE and awesome.

Lab D : Come be our friend, that would be rad. I've been collecting for years. Hardcore for the last three or so.

Queen B : Yeah it's a slow process, I haven't found the right thing yet. Usually I just don't want to store a bunch of stuff on surfaces to collect dust. We use them, and our personal messes aren't so pretty to look at.

F Faux: The art is not ironic at all and a lot of it is not amateur. I'm a big fan of painting (went to art school and everything) and just love strange portrait paintings. But then I'm a big fan of folks like Dana Schutz, Rob Thom, Lisa Yuskavage, Peter Doig, Luc Tuymans, Alice Neel...ect..

Creative L : Hemet is boring, and you can't make a left turn anywhere.

Hey guys thanks so much! What a bummer the slide show doesn't work....wish it did. There are a TON of photos

The screen saver is that retro flip clock thing everyone linked to. Go get it, it's great.

Stephanie K : Yes they are - we built them! Check it out HERE.

Lesley : I work at a private art school in a nearby town.

NiceRack : It's the Revivals in Palm Springs I usually go to. St. Vincent DePaul is the shit in LA.

michelleinbrooklyn : Yes it is our guest bedroom and we don't leave the screen saver on all day - it shuts down after a few minutes. Thats what my iphone is for.

AngelaDee76 : It's a Lagardo Tackett cookie jar - google it, they are awesome.

Sydney : Good thing that I do. More amateur portrait paintings for me!

Hooray, Hemet blows.

This is actually my house and my project, and yeah there is nothing green about this lamp.

It would have been cool if some one emailed me and asked - I would have told them.

The old vintage danish lamp I had here before was probably greener...

I love the after, it is SO much cleaner and lighter. Feels much more fresh and inviting.

Don't listen to the naysayers. It's lovely and looks larger and less depressingly like a funeral home. Great job!

Did you know they have to source all that stuff at Sears who I guess is one of the main sponsors? I kept wondering why everything always looked so bland and horrible. Imagine only having Sears to use as a resource for home decor. Gross.

I used to think it was just that the designers were TERRIBLE on this show (which they may be) but HGTV put some really intense limitations on where they could buy stuff. Of course it looks like crap, even if your ingenious and want to build everything usually the time frame doesn't allow for all the furniture to be custom built.

This show has just really gotten so much worse, and it wasn't good to begin with. Maybe HGTV needs to rethink the whole quick quick quick thing and focus on good design instead of bland rushed decorating. Every other show on that channel could really benefit from some better designers and more in depth design that looks either less catalog or less cheap wonky handmade. Theres no balance, I haven't been inspired or interested in a design on that channel for years which makes me really sad. I used to love HGTV.

And if I hear "zen" or "asian inspired" I am going to scream. Thats been the buzzword at some point on every show for the last 7 years. I hate "theme" decor.

I found it in Palm Springs at a garage sale. Its vintage and super awesome. I was a little sad to sell it...but I just couldn't find a place for it in my house after three months.

I'm a purger.

We installed an all black VCT floor in our 1950's kitchen. It was super inexpensive, totally durable, very DIY and they hide dirt really well. They are also really easy in terms of maintenance.

They are just Armstrong VCT that can be bought at Home Depot. Check out some pictures of it her with our white cabinets and turquoise counters:

I love them!

the computer thing is horrifying.

I've had people hop on my computer without asking and I have a silent rage/anxiety/panic attack. I HATE THAT. Just ask, then its fine. But I paid a lot of money and take good care of my computer and prefer people not treating my house like a public library.

Other stuff - whatever - help yourself, dig through my books, open drawers, pour the vodka.

Just don't touch my goddamn computer without asking.

love the lights over the dining table and the bed platform. Very sexy. the black doors are hilarious.

I'm not a huge fan of the purple and blue, maybe its my computer or the photos but they look a little pastel - like an Easter corpse...but then I've never loved purple.

It seems something that you could change very easily if you got bored with it and have a whole new space since everything else is so neutral.
