I have purchased frozen shelled fava beans from the Whole Foods in Baltimore on multiple occasions.

I remember when you guys posted about this a while back, and I remember thinking that it was an awesome kitchen gadget!

I would use it for just about everything I use my regular processor for - hummus, pesto, chopped nuts. And because I frequently cook for just myself, I don't really need to use a big food processor bowl to make a few servings of hummus, so this would be absolutely perfect!

Cute, but I wonder how evenly the heat is distributed...

It completely depends on my mood. Some days it's fast, driving, loud rock (Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters), some days it's Ella Fitzgerald, some days it's my favorite internet radio station that plays indie rock (www.woxy.com), etc etc.

Cleaning the bathroom, on the other hand, always gets loud, energetic music, because I hate cleaning the bathroom.

I reviewed this book on my blog last week. A cursory read-through of the book led me to give it a pretty good review. But then I tried out a few recipes and I've had to change my review. I posted one recipe from it, and I've made a total of 5 dishes from the book so far - none of them were good. Some required serious fixes and some were irreparable. I consider myself to be an accomplished home chef and I know Indian food very well (I was raised on it) so I'm quite sure that the poor results were not due to my inability in the kitchen or my unfamiliarity with Indian flavors.

I had high hopes for this book but unfortunately it's not as good as it seems :(

Don't do it. You'll destroy the blade. (I speak from experience, both mine and that of a few of my friends.)

Get a blender!

I love a good dry rose with spicy food like Thai or Indian (with which I'd normally drink beer). I'm currently loving Pinot Noir roses (Toad Hollow's is great), and one of my favorite things ever is Piper Heidsieck's Rose Sauvage (made with pinot noir grapes, too) - it's fizzy, a beautiful deep pink shade, and it strikes just the right balance between sweet and dry.

ilovebutter - Freezing does NOT kill lactobacilli (the bacteria in yogurt), nor will it kill many other kinds of bacteria. They just shut down, and, when thawed out, they wake up and function normally. Crazy little critters.

To answer the question, I have vodka, frozen berries, frozen spinach and peas, nuts, grated coconut, parathas, Amy's burritos, tomato sauce, individual portions of soup, sambar, chocolate buttercream frosting, and mini ciabattas in my freezer. Oh, and mango kulfi. Yum.

I had that same color mixer! It’s called Cranberry (although it’s really more of a magenta color) and it hasn’t been made for at least 5 years now – the only way to get it is to get a refurbished mixer from KitchenAid. Unfortunately, my beloved “Cranberry” mixer died last winter, but now I have a lovely purple one!

I second the above comment about a vegetarian challenge. I don't think a single one of these people would have a clue as to how to make a satisfying vegetarian meal (although Dale and Richard came kind of close last week with that beef fat-flavored tofu...if it weren't beef-flavored, it would have been a great dish, albeit not perplexed!)

I love the Toad Hollow! It goes REALLY well with spicy foods - as much as I love beer with Thai food, this goes really well with it, too!

Do I spy Meyer lemons in there? One option would be to make Meyer lemon shortbread cookies using the best butter you can find. Yum.

I have no problems with buying Rick's Picks pickled goods. Or the ones from Guss' Pickles in NYC. Vlasic, on the other hand...I'll pass.

One of my big problems with her is one that no one here has mentioned: she's a chain smoker with a caffeine addiction (cigarettes coffee tend to go hand in hand). I've read in a few places that she smokes well over a pack a day of Marlboro Reds, which are pretty much the strongest cigarette you can get, and she has admitted to drinking 10 cups of coffee a day, which is in fact an addiction.

I wish she'd quit her act of being the perky cute wholesome girl next door because her chain smoking habit and caffeine addiction are quite disgusting. How did you think she got that raspy voice???

Always Grade B. It's the best for baking and eating on pancakes/waffles, as its flavor is so much more rich and complex than any of the Grade A's.

While the commercial Peeps look more consistent, the homemade ones probably (actually, I know they will) taste a gajillion times better. I think I may have to make some right now!

That looks way cuter than this bunny pepper grinder I've seen, but it also looks way bigger. Bad for tiny apartments with tiny kitchens :(
