I am in the exact same situation. An artist with bare walls and mountains of photos. For awhile my solution was scrap booking, but now that I'm in a new, bigger house I need wall art. It's very overwhelming to sit down and figure out what will go where. But the January Cure is helping with all of this. :)

Taking January to Tackle a Big Project

" To be perfectly honest, I also need the timetable to keep me from trying to do everything in one day and getting overwhelmed."

EXACTLY! I needed the exact same thing! With so much to do, it's very easy to come home from work, realize all the projects that need/want to be done, get overwhelmed, and just plop in front of the TV instead. With the January Cure, I've been able to balance everything out. It's been really nice.

Good luck with your January Cure tasks! :)

I'm tackling my office room closet. It's one of those projects where once that gets taken care then everything else can fall into place; a clean closet allows space for other items that don't have a home yet and are taking up space elsewhere. One of those domino effect projects, haha.

Lovely room! I used to live in Larkspur. Nice to see someone from the area on here and with good design taste! :)

That bathroom is not horrid at all! At least everything is white and appears to be in good shape. The bathroom of my first place was salmon pink and the tiles were cracked; plus, we weren't allowed to touch it.

Because you have such a nice base to work from, I'd look into bringing some color in there. I'd hop onto Pinterest, search for bathrooms, and see what kind of scheme tickles your fancy.

I don't think a kid would get the Periodic Table of Typefaces, let alone periodic tables. Teenagers maybe, but definitely not kids. Unless your parents are serious design snobs.

I haven't purged entirely, but what I have done is gotten rid of the cases (except for my really nice boxed sets) and organized my discs so they take up waaay less space.

The Magic Eraser is amazing. The people who are scared about it, that's okay that means more on the shelves for us. I use them with my BARE HANDS and they clean everything. Boo yah!

I was in the same situation. I moved into a house where the ceiling was popcorn, and my landlords wouldn't let us remove it, only paint. We painted it bright white and the contrast with our wall colors looked sharp. Sure you use a lot of paint, but it looked really nice in the end.

How about a new hair dryer with a retractable cord? Like someone else said then you can keep it in a drawer. I use this one by Conair: http://amzn.to/hMoBZH

The reason I have a smartphone AND an mp3 player is size. My iPhone only holds 32GB whereas my iPod classic holds 160GB. iPod wins for music. Besides, when I got an iPhone using it for music was the last thing I thought about.

Let's see here! What did my roommate do?

- Wouldn't train her dog to pee/poop outside. Instead her dog would do its business in my garage next to my washer/dryer. Oh and she'd get annoyed when I'd ask her to pick it up.
- Smoked pot in the house when we clearly stated she couldn't before moving in.
- Had her ex-boyfriend over without our permission when my husband and I were out of town one weekend.
- Wouldn't contribute to paying any bills because she felt we "didn't need the money."
- Never put anything back where she got stuff from. I always had to hunt for things.
- Expected us to drive her to and from work, which was a quarter of a mile down the street. She has a bicycle.
- Occasionally forgot to lock the front door when no one was home.
- Used all my personal care items and never bought her own. I eventually had to hide my stuff after every shower.
- Bought several unnecessary items from her work (grocery store) every day, drugs, etc. but complained she had no money.
- Never helped clean around the house, especially when it was her mess.

Needless to say we kicked her out!

My cat used to want to get in my lap EVERY single time I sat down at the computer. I finally put a small pillow on my desk (I call it the "compromise pillow" haha) so she can still be with but not be in my way.
