My apartment overlooks theirs from across the courtyard. I loved watching the garden take shape. Beautiful work!

Yuk. These are so "dorm room". Maaaaybe they can stretch to "post-college-first-apartment" but I don't want them anywhere near my decor!

I ordered my drawer pulls from here:
http://coolknobsandpulls.com/

They have EVERYTHING under the sun and their turnaround time is super quick.

I had HORRIBLE experiences with them!! i ordered a ton of furniture through them and almost EVERYTHING arrived broken. I had them take back most of the pieces. And then the replacements arrived broken too! In fact, one was the original piece which they just tried to "fix" and send back to me. They had to send a "furniture doctor" to repair two of the pieces that they sent as well.
Seriously, AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID.

I have the one on the top right!
I saw it online on Etsy and then she was at a Bust Magazine craftacular. I was so excited to see her stuff there I was like a groupie. :)
It really is lovely in person, too. Smaller than you'd think, but really well done.

I have a certified Eames stool sitting in my living room and the shape is EXACTLY like the blue one pictured above. (Not saying that to be snobby or anything, just that having one and seeing these copies irks me to no end.) It pisses me off when companies steal in an attempt at blatant copying. Isn't there some sort of trademark infringement? It's not "inspired by" it's "Xerox-ed by".

It just looks like bad set design. The rooms also seem boring and uninspiring. They'd be better off dropping a few desks in a warehouse. I'd hate to work there.

I have that sink in my 1/2 bath! I have a different faucet, though. I love it. It's the cutest little mini-sink. (I can't take the credit, though. It came with the place.)

I voted "no" but not because it's too bold. I just think that particular shade of red screams "Cheap Chinatown accessories!" rather than "Smokin' red steaminess".

Red is a great color. I love splashes of it everywhere. But it has to have enough blue/purple undertone in order to avoid that Ronald MacDonald look.

kellybeegee:

Well, regarding colors, blue is a "cool" color and is generally invigorating. I have always preferred "warm" colors that are more womb-like and soothing when in a bedroom situation.

It's also more than just a personal preference thing. Studies have shown that certain colors evoke electromagnetic and chemical responses in our brains. For example (and back to the color we're discussing) blue is the least appetizing color. Diners presented with food on blue plates or in blue restaurants tend to suffer from loss of appetite, poor digestion, and a generally reduced experience than those served in, say, a red or cream restaurant. Similar studies have shown that pink and salmon are calming colors, which is why many hospitals, prisons, rehab centers etc. utilize this color in their decor.

This is probably way more information than you were seeking. :)

Torrilin, I have to disagree. THAT much white is much bolder design choice than a mixture of colors. It's hard to keep looking that pristine, and it makes the furniture the center of attention, rather than the knick-knacks. I think the judicious use of blue in the top photo is just lovely. And that fluffy white rug looks soooo luxurious!

Wow. I don't usually find blue to be a relaxing "bedroom" color. But that top photo looks SO peaceful!

Whatever ya do, don't order the lace item from Brocade.

I ordered a whole bunch of furniture from there when I completely re-did my apartment. Almost EVERYTHING arrived broken in some way or another.

I ordered the lace front media cabinet. It arrived broken so I sent it back. They sent me a replacement: THE SAME CABINET. It was damaged in exactly the same place and was in the same damaged box the same way I had repackaged it.

I ordered the hourglass side table. The drawers didn't work. I sent it back. They sent me another one. The drawers didn't work. They sent a "furniture medic" a MONTH later, who finally fixed the drawers today. He also fixed the drawers on the hourglass dresser, which also arrived with broken drawers. This was the second furniture medic sent to repair that particular piece.

The pieces that I have here now, yes, are lovely. They are really pretty and look great in the room. But they've all had to be tweaked and fixed in some way. I never did end up with the media cabinet. I was so furious I told them to take it back and refund my money.

So. Lace = pretty. Lace from Brocade = nightmare.

I'm a busy person with a mind for feng shui.

I have three TVs. One in the bedroom, one in the living room, and one in my big beautiful kitchen.

Dude, I live alone. The background noise helps me from going nutso in the silence. And no, I don't like the radio and music in the home just irritates me.

It bugs the crap out of me how high-horse and self-righteous people get : "I haven't had a tv for 20 years I'm far too busy and such a better person for not stooping to that low-brow crap." Get off it. It's entertaining, it's educational, it's stupid, it's smart. You can watch Flavor Flav or you can watch the Discovery Channel. You can be glued to it or you can have it on in the background and never look at the screen. If you watch it or if you don't watch it, you're not morally better or worse for it.

Big friggin deal.

I always organize my clothing by color. The rainbow progression makes my closet pretty and it makes it super easy to find the exact top I'm looking for.

I would have to look up what they are, but I've only had them a few weeks, so it's not like they've held up over the years or something.

Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | LA Good Questions: Do FLOR tiles shed?
2/1/08 7:37 AM

I have two different types of FLOR in my apartment. The one in the entryway is awesome, doesn't shed, and looks like an expensive rug. The one in my bedroom is equally awesome and doesn't shed, BUT it collects lint like it's friggin' velcro. Even my Dyson can't get the lint up. I have to manually detach the lint. Where does it all come from? Are my towels really that sheddy?

And I have two kitties. I say kitties because when I say "cats" people get scared I'm some sort of cliche cat-lady with a dozen screeching monsters poo-ing everywhere. Or something like that.

While I like the coziness factor and increased ceiling height illusion, I often feel trapped when I'm forced to sit in low-slung furniture. It takes more effort to lower down and pop up (not that I'm feeble, I'm in excellent shape. No, for realsies.) so I end up feeling stuck. It's like the lower furniture just sucks me into its vortex and I end up comatose in couch-land.

Perhaps there's a little hyperbole there, but ya get the drift.

Just a friendly warning. Be very careful ordering from Brocade. I ordered 6 different (expensive) items for my new bedroom, and almost everything has arrived broken or not working properly. And after sending one item back for an exchange, they had the nerve to re-send the SAME piece back to me with a lame attempt at fixing the damage. So buyer BEWARE!!!
