@madampince Same here! I had Whooping Cough and cracked a rib because the cough was so bad. I'm mostly better now, but still too feeble to lift anything over a few pounds and can't get anything done!

GORGEOUS! What a beautiful house. I love dark dark floors. If this was my place, I would leave the floors that color, leave the trim white, paint the walls a sky blue and get all white furniture (and add color with decor.) Oh my god that would look so lush.

I have an Ikea Billy Bookcase across from my closet with all of my heels on it. You can fit 4 pairs on each shelf, and If you buy a few extra shelves ($5 each) you can fit about 35 pairs of heels, and They look so nicely displayed.

I keep a silver trunk in the bottom of my closet. It holds my out of season clothes, well a portion of them anyway, and I stack shoes on top of it.

This wouldn't be practical since you are looking into the innards of the shoes, which get very unpretty after any wear. I prefer to display all of my heels on a narrow bookcase, 3 pairs a shelf.

Beautiful kitchen, but oriental rugs always look so tacky to me. I think a light sky-blue rug could look amazing in that space.

The railing looks really odd to me. I think you need something more substantial and solid, maybe more like a low wall with some sort of countertop. Or maybe a wall with some narrow storage cabinets?

I love this! I always paint my walls blue, but I've never thought to just do the ceiling. I might do this in the future.

Cold showers! You often can't start with cold, start with cool water and then slowly work your way down to freezing. I take one when I come home, and can usually put off turning on the AC for a couple of hours afterward. A fan on you with cold, wet hair makes you feel almost TOO cold (which I love.)

Put a fan directly on your face in bed, and then turn off the AC right before you fall asleep. I can usually keep it off until morning, the fan helps a lot.

My blender has an "easy clean" setting specifically to do just that, overall not new information. I do like to take apart all of the parts after and run them under water to make sure there are no fruit bits stuck in the rubber ring.

Cold showers are the only thing that truly makes me feel better (I get really effected by the heat). It's too jarring to get into an ice cold shower, but start with cool water, and slowly lower the temperature until it's freezing. Stay in for about 15 minutes and sit in front of a fan after you get out, and you can keep cool for a couple of hours.

I put water bottles in the freezer until they are solid and then they still cold for a few hours while you're out, running errands, at the park/beach etc.

I do the same thing with a spritzer bottle and spray myself every few minutes with cold water. Ahhhh pleasure.

This happened when I went home for the first time in a while. My mom's new fridge does this, and it took me about an hour to figure out where the beeping was coming from.

The restaurant my boyfriend works at reuses red wine bottles as water bottles and I love it. It's so subtle and looks great. I don't drink wine but I've been starting to collect all of the bottles that come through my apartment, I've been putting them in my boots to hold them upright, water bottles, etc, etc.

I live with my boyfriend, and my only real cleaning tradition is telling him what his share of the cleaning is, and him doing it with varying levels of resistance. He always cleans the toilet and shower though, but only after I ask.

A new habit of mine is to take a few minutes for I go to bed almost every night and pick up anything in our room that needs tidying: putting away clothes, throwing away stray trash, sorting things on the desk. This has really helped my reduce the amount of room cleaning I have to do on weekends.
