It's hard to do a lot of aesthetic layering without looking too try, but this space is very successful. Well done. It's got a kind of old, apothecary vibe to it, which is perfect.

I can see what they were aiming for, but imo they missed their mark - it needs some subtle detailing and I feel like the black is too warm. There's just something off. I do appreciate the modern accents, such as the cactus and the chrome, but I think they could have done better.

If even the tiniest smell of smoke will bother you to the point you are considering not moving into a space you love, then don't move in full stop. Because that will be a bone of contention with you every single day of your occupancy.

Now let's hope the next place you find doesn't have neighbors who are musicians.

give him the bird and drill whatever holes you need, patching and painting over them when you move out. or just move out. I could never justify spending money on a place I wasn't even allowed to hang curtains in!! ridiculous!

I know it's odd, but the best movie apartment to me is the one in Single White Female. I dream about that bathroom. I believe the apartment was located or modeled after ones in the Ansonia hotel on the upper west side.
