Why no love for Philly, we're bigger than Boston, San Francisco, Portland, or Seattle, and we have two really good ones (in addition to a ReStore):

Hey, olive oil works pretty good in removing mice from glue traps. We tend to get mice under our oven where only glue traps fit.

I hate doing it, but glue seems to work the best. When you get a live one in the morning, you can scrape it off the trap with the help of some olive oil and some tricky maneuvering with some plastic containers.

Salt and pepper to taste...or just take 'em a few blocks over and give them a stern verbal warning.

Sleeping porches seem to be common in my borough (Jenkintown, nestled in the little crook of Northeast Philly's arm), where most of the homes date to about 1880-1920. They're usually on the second floor, outside the master bedroom. Since AC is so common, most of the ones that I have seen have been converted into a office or bathroom spaces.

I wish my house had one, as I can think of nothing better than sleeping on a hammock in a mosquito-netted enclosure.

As an aside, if you're ever in nearby Bryn Athyn, visit the Glencairn museum. Its a castle built by the Pitcairns. They have a sleeping porch too, but I can't imagine their house ever got hot considering its all vaulted stone.

I have had a standing desk for over a year now and I love it. I had been pushing for one for ages -- I am an early riser and tend to nod off in the later afternoon -- and a new job gave me a new opportunity to request one.

I got a few odd stares at first, and everyone that enters my office for the first time asks if I have a bad back (I don't). I find I have more energy throughout the day, but I do look forward to sitting on the train during the ride. home.

How about we save space by getting rid of all these CD and DVD boxes, already?

Your DVDs are just as secure, but much easier to store, in one of those organizer binders. You can burn your CDs to your hard drive -- and/or a portable backup drive -- and either sell or store them in the attic...in one of those organizer binders.

To create a massive, impractical drawer for all of your CDs just seems weird. Can't you see any drawer that big and heavy causing problems with the rails?
