Really great architecture, very cluttered house. While it is sort of shocking, but maybe cool, that they weren't more persnickety about having some of the more cluttered rooms pictorialized, I get where they are coming from. That's how people really live. Particularly in the south, folks do have a more cluttery, jumbled, homespun aesthetic which makes them feel cozy and good. You know, the women putter and cook, and the men hunt and fish. Its okay. They're living their dream and it's adorable. But personallly, living with cluttered spaces like that makes my skin itch. I'm always seeking the magazine-spread vibe in my own home. Which is unrealistic as we have five kids! So I'm constantly frustrated. These guys are not frustrated; they're relaxed and happy. It feels like real life rather than a magazine.

Wow! I usually don't go for an all-white scheme...But there's so much texture, and such variety of "whites" in the decor, that it actually does feel cozy and pulled-together in a really appealing way!

As an Oregonian who has emigrated to the east coast, I envy you your Sellwood farmhouse. We real-estate hunted around Sellwood and the Moreland area for a good few years before deciding to just "go big" and move the 3000 miles from the Willamette Valley to the Pioneer Valley, Mass. Like you, we were looking for homes with history and character. We found a 1900 Queen Anne Victorian with wraparound porch, but those Portland homes are equally stunning and rich in history and style.

I miss Portland's eclectic vibrant neighborhoods, shops, Japanese, Chinese and Rose gardens, and amazing food every day. You made a great choice to move there from LA. I hope you are loving it!!

I really REALLY love this home.

I totally get these folks, and I totally am the same way. I too, am constantly striving to inject wit and whimsy into our spaces. We have five kids and I love nothing more than to make our homes places of wonder so our kids can project their imagination into the spaces and have fun, and not feel like the rooms are grown-up and stuffy.

Life can be so boring and drearily relentless in its routines and social judgements and expectations.

It's so liberating, so truly fun and great, to be able to play and have fun with decorating, behind one's own closed doors.

Plus, all the nostalgia and curiosos from the past are endlessly fascinating. Not so much creepy, as truly bizarre and magical.

Such a creative and stimulating series of rooms. LOVE.

Maybe, perhaps, my favorite ever house tour. The orange triangle is killing me. The very BEST of 70s interior design. What a great eye for color, and for creating peaceful destinations, this woman has.

Using deep melon-ey pink like this as a primary accent color is very delicious! The colors in general are "sherbet" colors.

I love the artful pictures and the pops of color. I am really impressed with the bed and the storage created by the stacked palettes.

I always WANT to invent/reappropriate but I'm not quite as creative as you and it doesn't come as naturally to me.

Really like this.

Reminds me of an art gallery space. The modern "white cube" experience, where each individual piece is lent weight by having it's own space, and popping off the white walls.

I have to draw attention to the tall black barrister bookcase opposite the fireplace in the main living room. It's very dark, and too tall in scale compared to the low furniture. It also feels a little like it's competing with the fireplace, which, clearly, is the rightful star of the show. I'd love to see a vintage lowslung teak shelving unit in it's place. You could then use the top as a bar/buffet counter for cocktail party drinks and snacks. Viola!

Now that that trivial matter is out of the way...AWESOME HOME, GUYS. AMAZINGLY WELL DONE INTERIORS!!!!!! Soft, soothing, and pulled-together. Did one of you study design?

Finally, I'd love to know what kind of budget you two were working with.

Only one comment?? This family has their priorities straight, and their style is great! How I long to drastically downsize and distill our family's possessions into a teeny cabin, where being together IS the activity.

ps. for example, a white Panton chair, white mod nightstands, some mirrors, and a funky burnt orange area rug and curtains.

My first instinct is to ground and envelop the space in a rich chocolatey brown. Then get pops of color by following a sort of mod-70s color scheme, which is already happening on the bedspread. Also accent with white, which is going to look nice and mod against the chocolate. This room could be transformed into a super-inviting, cozy space. Finally - don't forget about art on those walls!!

She is adorable, but I really find her home really boring and lacking in character. Not a fan of the grey and green color combo, either.

This is not just a "cute" apartment. This is an expression of a really sophisticated and deft use of color against a chic but entirely cozy neutral backdrop. I am really impressed!

"I think the whole point of AT is to show real homes that are not picture perfect, but somehow capture the essence of their occupants." Well put @1smartcookie!!! If we want to get all anal about the spaces let's all head over to Elle Decor or even Dwell. The thing I love about the AT homes are that you do sense that real lives are being lived in these homes. It's palpable, and extremely charming.

This house seems sooooooo cozy. I felt the urge to read a book, drink tea, or take a nap, in every single room that popped up!

The OLNY thing I can say is that I'd love to see some hardwood flooring in that kitchen to complete the "country cottage" adorable-ness.
