@baba yaga,

That is one of the best descriptions of an interior space that I have ever seen. Accurate, poignant and infinitely relatable.

If you don't mind, I'll add it to my list.

Ideas for Anchoring a Rescued Random Chair

I have the owl from my childhood. I would tie a string around his neck so he could fly around me as fast as I could lasso him.

Even after a messy meeting with my in-laws' dog, he survived and has another story to tell.

The family story is that with the money from my dad's first paying job, he bought a green artificial tree to replace the aluminum one that my grandparents had used for several years . I now have the tree he replaced and the irony isn't lost on anyone in the family. I use vintage ornaments my aunt salvaged from a neighbor.

I also have the green tree bought during my first year of marriage. As this is my second divorced Christmas, I don't have the energy or heart to put it up.

Silver and vintage all the way. (For now.)

@mlhdrain and thelateafternoon-

I just checked the original post and the font is her own handwriting. She freehanded the letters and used a hole punch.

I would LOVE to have such great penmanship.

I realize that I'm late to the party, but wanted to ask a question I don't see raised anywhere else.

On the top two rows of white shelving, under the pot rack shelf, are a set of large canisters and then smaller canisters. I don't see any information on what they are or where they are from. I love the simplicity, the lids and overall beauty. If anyone still checks on this post, I'd love some answers.

Thank you.

@simpletunex - When I did this a couple of apartments ago, my wife thought it was just my OCD kicking in. If we were still married, I'd show her that I was simply following time-honored standards.

Did anyone have the foresight to download/save a copy of the instructions for #2, since Martha no longer posts the Blueprint archives? I'd like to try this without the trial and error that will inevitably sour me on the process.

I JUST picked this up at my local library. I haven't taken the time to do more than flip through the first fifteen pages, but what I have seen so far is amazing.

@miche81-
No, the address is not correct. After Googling, I discovered that the address should be listed as:

"but there was something slightly...strange about smelling pork first thing in the morning."

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned cooking bacon, which, unless of the turkey or tofu/veggie/whatever-faux-meats-are-made-from variety, is a pork smell that most people love in the morning.

More on topic-Does the cooking overnight save time the next day? I understand that food can stay hot in a slow cooker without drying, but doesn't cooking and then holding it for 8-10 hours lose something in the wait? Also, pot roast, chili, stews and braised meals seem to cook in three to five hours on high or six to eight on low. Unless not everyone in the house sits down to eat together, (shift workers, students, insomniacs) why choose overnight rather than during the day?

I like the idea-I'm simply trying to understand the reasons others have for using it? (Stock, beans and "staples" cooking for adding to other dishes make sense-I'm just confused about other recipes.)

I've spent years waiting to say this: "I have that lamp!" The white lamp from the first photo matches one I purchased 2 or 3 years ago at Goodwill. Mine had a less-than-stellar DIY gold paint job above the ceramic base so that has been removed and is stained a dark mahogany, but I think that I will redo it again before I'm satisfied.

As an unrepentant Lamp Lover, I've kept an eye open in all the posts I read in order to finally have some validation that what I like is something that others like also. I'm glad to see that finally pay off.

Is it possible to make tea in these? I can't abide the taste or smell of coffee, but if tea is an option, then I'm all for it.

Thanks if anyone knows.

I just found the Nigella Express tv series through a youtube account and immediately fell in love with the refrigerator. I've been waffling about whether or not to post a question about where to find information about it.

Once again, AT saves the day!

Apartment Therapy New York | Identify Upholstery Used on Knoll Chairs? Good Questions

I'm pretty sure the fabric is Gaia Endive. I worked in the Knoll Textile division at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago 1999-2001.

It's no longer available, but you might contact the showroom closest to you to see if the factory might have some stored away.

Good luck!

ps-in the future, if you can take a closer picture of a fabric or element, that will make identification easier.

My mother had a Decorating Den franchise twenty years ago and she said that this was indeed a Waverly fabric, used for tablecloths in the first Bush White House.

She doesn't remember the designer and her old samples are no longer available for perusal.

Sorry to not be much more help than the previous comments.

How is this made? I have both of the Nomadic Furniture books from the 70's, the first of which lists this fixture make with styrofoam cups. In that version, glue is applied to the sides and the cups sit closer together. This version seems to be affixed to some kind of inner sphere allowing the cups to sit a bit further apart from each other.

Am I looking too hard or just missing something because I should be in bed instead of looking at a project that is on my list of to-dos?

A few weeks ago, I started looking into the Thonet 214 chair. I am saving one of the images I discovered in my "inspiration file" to be considered at a later time.

@bonnie van v:

The fansite wtwta dot com has a collection of 33 images from the trailer (available individually or as a zip file) including the three "inside all of us" frames.

I don't know about the printout quality but as a computer desktop wallpaper, they seem to be great!

Good luck.
