I'm assuming you painted that owl lamp....I only say that because my family had that same lamp in our house when I was growing up! Weird. I'd totally forgotten, but as soon as I saw it, I was like, WHOA! Crazy. Small world.

That is awesome! I have two of these from my previous house that I have been considering donating because they're kinda big and taking up too much room, but drawing tables or even a picnic table (great idea) are kinda genius. Thanks for the inspo!!

And as far as the comments go, people are so brave behind a keyboard. Good grief. My girls watch TV every morning and again in the afternoon and they even have sweet cereal sometimes. THE HORROR! You do it your way, I'll do it mine.

I love the "yes" room idea. We have a very curious and energetic 19 month old and we always feel like we're telling her no! We did the exact same thing by making a playroom for her and her older sis that is totally child proofed and safe for them. Whenever they get really wild downstairs we send them up to play without limits. Nice job.

We have the IKEA ledge too. It holds three pretty large frames really well. I have no idea if my hubby modified it though to make it stronger...he is pretty handy that way!

I tossed mine out during a move (recycle bin) and then just after that I heard they were done.
Sigh.

Just re-reading my comment and feel the need to clarify a few things so no one thinks I'm the worst Mom in the whole world! First, we have rouladins on the windows that are down almost all the way, so there isn't a huge gaping hole or anything. The gap left from where the hose goes out the window has been filled with a pillow and blanket so it's not visible. My concern however, has been more focused on someone being able to get in rather than her getting out. And that is why I'm so grateful for this post.

It's been really humid here in Germany the last couple days and we have a couple portable AC units that we put in the bedrooms to make sleeping more comfortable. They have to be vented though, so we have to open the window and remove the screen to put the vent out. I'm ashamed to admit that it never even occured to me that my daughter could crawl up and fall out the open window (which is on the second floor over a hard, concrete exterior.) Thank you for this. I will be fixing the window situation stat.

Does he have a favorite rider? Maybe you could use the colors from the riders jersey for the decorations. They're usually pretty colorful.

PS-that cake is awesome.

My husband got me the Dyson fan after i had our second daughter. It was expensive, but it works really well and looks cool. Not the sort of thing we do often, but it was a splurge and I love it. Even if it is redonkulous.

These are great. I would totally buy them for my best friends son who is turning 3 this month, but she'd kill me. She has 4 boys and enough noise for two houses! Guess I'll have to spoil my own kids with them! ;-)
