I love your explorer theme! I have a wee Leif as well. We pronounce it "layf." People where his dad and I grew up do that too, but we live on the east coast, and everyone here calls him Leaf. I have seen other people spell it "Lafe" to get around the pronunciation problem.

My understanding of the pronunciation is that there are three correct ones in the Nordic languages - layf, leef and life. So it really boils down to what feels and sounds most natural to you. And to us, that's layf!

My inner math nerd informs me that's at least 12 square feet. Twice the space! Huge! :)

I love it. It's clean, it's cute, and it gets the job done with minimal fuss.

I'm from a northern M state too, and Easter was snowed out more often than not. So Mom and Dad would hide the eggs indoors. One year, they didn't keep a good count of how many eggs were hidden. They lost track of one that was left to rot for several days before we could finally track down the offender. We used plastic eggs from then on!

You do not have to bring the milk to a full boil. I usually heat the milk until small bubbles are forming along the edge. You can add the lemon juice or acid then. I've been making cottage cheese this way for years.

I am kicking myself, though, for not realizing that I was making paneer all this time! This opens the door to so many new applications.

I might have liked the lines of the old cabinets better *if* it hadn't been yucky laminate. And if you click through, you'll see that she tried to paint the original cabinet and it looks like the paint just wouldn't take. I think the finished product looks amazing.

The old Ikea cribs met the old regulations, so they are plenty safe. We have had ours for three years and after we took off the side to convert it to a toddler bed, we were surprised to find out just how sturdy it really is. My son, my husband and I can all pile on to read at bedtime, and it does not even move. No creaks, nothing.

I am surprised at Ikea's decision, however. I thought the new CPSC rules covered only drop-side cribs. I was not aware that Ikea even made those.

Oldsmobile, late 1970s. Dad would cut a piece of plywood to cover the area between the front and back seats. Mom covered the board with thewith quilt batting and a blanket, and filled the space with pillows and toys for me and my brother. We could play and stretch out for naps during our epic road trips.

Dad also let me and my brother stand on the seat of his pickup truck. When he'd stop, he'd fling out his right arm to catch us.

@MeganPie, click through and you'll see the desk is constructed mostly of Ye Olde MDF. Not exactly a priceless antique.

This is going to sound weird no matter how I put this... but bondage tape works wonderfully. It applies smoothly and leaves no residue when removed because it's not sticky.

Wood grain? That looks like laminate. So by all means, paint!

I'd be worried about dust, too. The credenza had sliding doors. Maybe you could get some plexiglass (or real glass) cut to fit.

My son is 2 and 1/2 and refuses blankets and pillows. I once read that physically, we don't need the support of pillows until age 4 or 5, so I wonder if some of our kids our simply emulating us.

No matter - as long as they are comfy - and sleeping!

I can't see how the shelves are made and how they're installed. They look almost like 2x4s that have been bolted to the wall and painted. Anyone have any ideas?

I love this idea. I might try editing some of our existing videos this way. We have hours upon hours worth.

I created a Dan Zanes station on Pandora and we love it. They throw in a lot of They Might Be Giants, offbeat covers (like Reel Big Fish's ska version of "Take On Me," as well as more down-tempo stuff like Elizabeth Mitchell and Jack Johnson. Dan Zanes' last album featured Spanish songs, though, so be prepared for a lot of Tejano and Cuban songs as well. We like to dance to those.

It looks like they've changed the recommended ages for these toys. I purchased two of these as birthday gifts last year, for a 1 and 2 year old. I ended up keeping one for another year because the packaging said it was recommended for age 2 and up.

Anyway, these are great toys! The recipients loved them!

I'd like to do this with the bi-fold doors in my apartment but the doors are made of metal. Any ideas?
