My kitchen screams "neat freak"! While I do have spice racks, utensils, canisters, you name it out on the counter, everything has a place and there is never a dish in the sink. I have gone so far as to put away all the cooking dishes before even eating the meal. What Does Your Kitchen Say About You? |

I don't mind fake shutters as decoration at all, but it always annoys me when they are clearly too small to cover the entire window. Or worse... I've seen shutters that were too large and would have overlapped if closed. They just look like a cheap knock off. The Newman's DIY Decorative Shutters Hello Newmans |

I'm not sure about the quality of this chair as I have never seen it but it looks like a pretty basic chair. I bet you could find a similar one at an Amish market that is great quality and then just paint or stain it whatever color you want. Help Finding Similar Sturdy Chairs Good Questions |

I sit in a Generation chair for at least 8 hours a day in the office and I strongly recommend it. I agree that it isn't the best looking chair, and as a designer I would be more likely to spec Knoll's Life chair based on aesthetics (for conferencing or shorter term task seating) but the Generation is far superior for long term use in my opinion. Also, I have never noticed the "audible cracking sound when shifting weight or getting into or out of chair", I will be listening from now on though. Talking 'Bout My G-G-Generation! I usually would agree to keep the wood grain and go with a stain but your new floors certainly have a strong grain pattern that is contrasting with your stair treads grain pattern. I would suggest painting the stair treads a grayish brown color that you can find in your new floors and leave the risers white. To "hide" the ends your dog uses as a chew toy I wouldn't go too dark, let your new floors be the show piece, also if he continues to chew the chipping paint wont be as noticeable.
