I really don't understand why in old apartments some owners take off beautiful charming wooden floors to put this kind of floors. A friend of mine lives in a 17th century building near the Saint-Sulpice church in the St-Germain des près area and one of her neighboor is "renovating" the apartment she has just bought. She is destroying the old patined tommettes and the Versailles style floor to have this kind of clean boring look. It's really a pity. :((

I'm french and from my experience it's a little bit idealized. I used to work in a kindergarden when I was a student and to serve food to the children.
It's true that the cooks were preparing a lot of meals, that there is fish, cheese and vegetables on the menu but they were also using cans to make them, not just only fresh products from the market. The second part of the documentary is specially an exception. When usually you're asking people about how they felt about "cantine" (lunch at school) they usually say that it wasn't as good as at home or even not good at all.

Thank you for sharing! Your home is very inspiring. I'm planning to move from the suburb to the center of Paris to a smaller apartment and now it doesn't appear to me as a "sacrifice" like it used to be but as a good opportunity. Bravo Messieurs!
