Gorgeous finds! Especially the pillow with its beautiful mountainous cartography. I have a weak spot for old maps... I collect & repurpose them nto customized paper-cut art www.papercutworks.etsy.com - they celebrate special places like wedding locations or anniversary trips. I've also used maps to mod podge an old dresser, block print, gift wrap, collage, etc. So many fun ways to bring this nostalgic piece of paper into a home!

absolutely! my nikki mclure calendar just arrived in the mail yesterday... i love pretty calendars with small spaces to write in my plant watering schedule (35 plants... a lot to keep track of), social dates on weekends (since i don't look at my electronic calendar on the weekends). ours hangs in the kitchen. i especially love picking calendars with pages that can be later framed. we just framed three charlie harper illustrations from a 2010 calendar. they look great in a baby room!

I love the door knob idea! I repurposed a vintage frame purchased at a local thrift store & a cork board covered in fabric + insect pins to display my favorite jewelry in my bedroom (you can see a photo of it here: http://papercuthearts.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/our-home-featured-on-etsys-get-the-look/) it looks nice too & the jewelry doesn't get tangled up. & it's an easy project I found via Real Simple a while back. The insect pins are black as is the fabric I used to cover the cork board so it's a seamless look too!

Workout DVDs have always worked great for me. Yoga, pilates - I've been sticking with gaiam's series of all sorts. Little equipment required & I buy a new CD every once in a while to keep it interesting. But I agree with others - invest in rain gear instead of an indoor machine. I love walking my dogs (I'm also a Seattleite) as long as I have my rain coat & layers on.

I started a "handmade holidays" pinboard last year with a whole bunch of projects... & that's as far as i got. so this year i'm throwing an anti-black-friday crafty holiday gift & decorations making party. i'm definitely tackling a vintage doily window decoration, felt mittens garland & printed gift wrap! http://pinterest.com/ania/handmade-holiday-gifts

I love #1! Stunning. Love the pottery collection. Style wise several of these remind me of our living room (first photos on the right here) http://papercuthearts.wordpress.com/2011/11/08/our-home-featured-on-etsys-get-the-look/ & another image here
We do have a narrow glass hutch, but instead of china, I display some special items that are not food related... my grandmother's glass hen storing sewing supplies, a collection of birthday or holiday cards from friends/family, paper flowers that served as decoration in our community wedding celebration... We do have a mid century credenza too - we store table linens here (which we sue once a year) & table mats (we use all the time). We used to store our bicycles in the dining room but have since reshuffled everything around.

How simple & gorgeous! I'm a vintage map collector, & it just happens that I also cut them into heart shapes, to create custom "home sweet home" anatomy-inspired cutouts. A number of completed works are on my Pinterest board here: http://pinterest.com/ania/my-portfolio/ http://pinterest.com/ania But I do love this simple project & the intention behind it!

I couldn't agree more with the "tools of your trade" tip. They make your space look lived-in & personable, avoiding the catalog look even if you've just shined your place for entertaining. I recently moved my creative space into our large dining room (to make room for a guest room) and my brushes, vintage lace stuffed in a mason jar, beads & findings are now out for all to see. As long as I manage to keep 'em organized they make a great home decor accent & conversation starter! http://papercuthearts.wordpress.com/2010/09/21/my-new-space

i'm addicted to Pinterest too! http://pinterest.com/ania & have separate boards dedicated to quilting, paper crafts, needle crafts, party decor & food ideas, & a huuuuge craft DIY board.... each board includes at least a couple completed projects of mine. I recently started a "on my to do" pin board however to keep track of my favorite projects to get going. otherwise i'd drown in all my beloved pins... (i do wish it was easier to delete pins though - without having to go through the "edit" page).

Good point hellcat! In my home it's shoes off, basket full of slippers available with various shoe sizes near the entrance. All our guests love our guest slippers, no one ever complains & they all come back.... I think it's working!

I love dark floors. We have dark brown laminates & they look awesome. With two dogs (black & brown/white) our floors always no matter what color would show hair so we don't struggle with that. Now - that LAMP! It's amazing! Where can I get an affordable one like this??? Can an Ikea designer reading AT get on it please?

i'm a serious vintage addict, and a professional paper cut artist, & saw this amazing photo in a west elm catalog of a brick wall displaying a collection of framed classic black papercuts (scherenschnitte), a little yellowish & damaged from age - profiles of adults & children... beautiful! ever since i've been trying to create a collection that would go well together for our entrance area. one day i'll get there!

What a lovely globe collection! I have a weakness for vintage cartography as well... & repurposing it into paper cut art. In addition to old maps, I also collect fortune cookie messages, vintage buttons & pen nibs {buttons, pen nibs and fortune cookie messages etc} but i seem to develop a new vintage object obsession every month.... looking forward to a month of little collections!

Their product looks really nice quality! I use Canadian solid birch frame panels for my personalized map & dictionary cutout art - it makes shipping to customers easy! & it's neat to be able to either set your piece on a mantle or hang it on a wall. versatile & three-dimensional. i'll be sure to check out their options though!

Interesting comments! I love their new aesthetic. Yes, the "drab" & could totally furnish my whole house with it. Sadly, my husband wouldn't let that happen :-( {i too felt bad for post office carrier but i'm glad i have the catalog! i mean source book}
