There's something nostalgic and adorable about their decorating style. I love the clear lines in the office area. A cluttered office makes work nearly impossible!

I love the outlining on the pillows and the vase, but I think I would draw the line before outlined fabric on my couch or wallpaper.

I actually love the way this looks. As lolagirl mentioned, I'm not sure how well it will weather but I think the polyerethane could really help. And wallpaper treads are fairly easily replaced and could change the looks so drastically. I love it!

this is cute! I like this idea and it's guaranteed to astonish small children. Color can add some great dimension!

The chairs are definitely my favorite part of this (although the white couch is beautiful). They're the part that most strongly say "French" to me, but the whole feeling has the eclectic aspect.

I don't believe it's a waste of a dresser, I think it's a great re-imagination. While the original dresser was indeed beautiful, isn't it better to have something that will be used?

That's a great idea. It works really well in that woodworking type setting with all the tools around. I can't imagine it would be pulled off as well holding kitchen utensils, for example. Whenever standard items are re-imagined, I love the creativity that results.

My favorite part about this house is the use of pattern. The bed clothes and the armchair and...well, it's all adorable. It's fun without being junior and vintage without being too mature. Great job!

how cool! This reminds me of the Bellagio ceiling in Las Vegas, although less ostentatious. I think this could be replicated with great success in a house but it would have to be carefully thought out.

This is almost unbearably charming. This is the type of place I want to go for a getaway with my partner, where we can relax and get away from all the stresses of modern life. I love how it has been documented and would really like to read this book....

I LOVE these designs, but the problem with having these wonderful outdoor spaces is that it is incredibly hot outside for the majority of the summer. I find that having a fan can make all of the difference!

The gleaming, beautiful wood of the desk totally makes everything in that living come together. I love it!

The kitchen back tile is a little psychedelic for my taste, but the Nana wall is beautiful and I love how open and airy everything is. All the neutral tones look really great set off by the chintzes of various colors. Love it!

I like this, but you'd have to have a very specific look going to pull it off. I know in my tiny galley kitchen I don't have the space to pull this off without looking too contrived.

What another great idea. The best benefit of a home office (besides being able to work in your pjs) is that it doesn't have to feel like a cubicle. I love these great and creative hints to help me personalize while still staying organized and professional.

You just convinced me to go out and get this book. I LOVE greenery and feel so much happier and healthier when I'm surrounded by plants. These container gardens sound fabulous and I look forward to filling my home office with them!

I love this idea, although I think the aesthetic (for my tastes) could be improved by having open cabinets (no cover). That would give it more of the "library" feel. However, now that I think about it, I can see how very quickly that could look disorganized and cluttered and ruin the effect. Hm....maybe have just the top level open?

Whether it's brass or gold, it's gold COLORED and I love it. It looks clean and modern to me and has a real warmth. Great choice!

This is great article. I've struggled with this very concept recently and I am SO excited to see and utilize these tips! Spraying the underside of a plastic gaurd is a great idea, although I totally support using colored rugs instead. And plants make any area much more personalized and inhabitable! Good work.
