TrishinPeoria - you're right, Living Etc is British

Koiwabiru - I think it's a bit harsh to say that Australia is backward with decorating trends. Obviously you're not going to find American winter designs/trends in store at the moment, but we're hardly years behind.
Maybe it's just the stores you are going to?

Australia has Real Living, Inside Out, Vogue Living, Home Beautiful, House & Garden and Belle magazines. I read all of them for work (lucky) and I have to say that they're pretty much on trend with what I see on AP. I think Australia has it's own aesthetic - not American or European, but taking elements of both and combining them with the light/space/outdoor lifestyle we have here.

As for Ivy & Piper, when I read it a few weeks ago I thought it probably had some teething issues re design & amount of content, but will check out the next issue. I also thought that seeing as though it's Brisbane based, they probably don't have as much access to different homewares boutiques as we do in Melbourne & Sydney.

I used to argue with a friend about this colour - she called it pine/lime. I called it bile...

It is growing on me now

You would think that the clock on the silo would say 11 degrees!

We have just bought a 1920s house with unsealed filthy 70s cork panels lining the main bedroom.

It's going before I can even contemplate spending a night there!

Cork has its place - in the Champagne bottles!

Seeing how passionate people have been about this, I think this may be a case of Australian/American cultural differences?

In Australia, we are very conscious of not appearing to be 'up ourselves' - thinking too highly of ourselves or our own work.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to cover your walls with your own work, but I can identify with what Jenny was saying.

As a textile designer, with some of my own work around my house, it's not something I point out to people when they visit - I don't want to appear too proud!

Google 'Tall poppy syndrome' for a further explanation

Beautiful house though - I'd love to know where Rosetta got her couch from... oh and Melbourne rocks!!
