Hmmm, I thought it looked great in the movie. But for some reason, these pictures....

Like how the closet has a his and her side. Thats cute but would probably be very expensive to pull off in real life!

Eh...

I too liked Carrie's old apartment, before AND after the makeover.

I liked any apartment Samantha had. She always had the ultimate bachelor(ette) pad. Even when she moved to the meat-packing district, it was a basically a studio b/c the bed was right across from the kitchen. But it had humongous loft windows. Very kewl.

Miranda's was too mod or utilitarian for me.

Im about to have a panic attack just looking at that place. But you obviously have a life, and I spend alot of time at home. So there you go.

The white really does open it up. As much as it possibly can be...

That purple bathroom is sooo pretty. And I get the feeling it looked kinda crappy before, and this is some kinda minor miracle.

Has anyone seen the gathered sky duvet from anthropologie? Well, someone had their living room wall painted similar to that and it was sooooo pretty. I cant remember where I saw it though, arrgh.

I dont have the imagination to undertake this type of project, but I do want to paint my living room walls slightly different shades.

That wallcolor came out nice. That unit has beautiful details, that are rare these days. That wall trim - wow.
Gorgeous shutters. Looove that lamp.

Okay, the red ones are simply gorgeous.

I considered this idea awhile back, when I noticed similar displays in stores and design mags. But I didnt know what to do with all the cords? I would arrange the hooks how I wanted, but I didnt think the ensuing group of cords (albeit off to the side) would be attractive. I have a single paper lantern in one corner of my living room, at the moment.

They are brave. I would never hang my clothes over some canal, or over a street. But I guess they have been doing it for generations...

I love it. There's always been something about traditional square pools that I cant put my finger on, but are so overbearing I guess. This is true design, and looks like its not the main focal point out back. I love that.

Okay...ummm, I would KILL for bookshelving like that. And the built-in shelves next to the library, are giving me an eyegasm. I love the stacked suitcases, if I had room, Id incorporate that into my home. That chest of drawers is gorgeous.

Okay, I dont want to be a hater -but that is obviously brick veneer.

And of course wallpaper and brick are okay, as long as you keep each to one side of a room. I wouldnt put it on the same wall, like this person has done. I love that they love it, but this wont catch on, I assure you.

Beautiful examples. But this is one of those things, kinda like a red lipstick - not for everyone.

Someone just raised the point of direction-facing. I am lucky that my apartment faces north, top floor. Shady, bright w/o the direct sunlight, and good breezes. HUGE factor.

I hated it in the wintertime, but its been a godsend for the summer. It all balanced out, in the end.

I couldnt agree more. Numbers one thru three, I live by it.

1. I just spent $700 on a wall mirror from anthropologie, but I'll be damned if I piss away more than twenty bucks on electricity. Im retarded like that.

2. Soooo true, and Ive never thought about that before...

3. My favorite noise ever, winter or summer, is the train whistle. Not RTD (denvers regional city train), Im talking about union pacific. It amazes me, no matter what city you live in, how far you are from the tracks, you can always hear the train whistle, in the middle of the night. Most beautiful, relaxing noise ever. Not to mention crickets, rain, late neighbors, ambulance and fire trucks ;-)

4. It amazes me how easily people in my building blast the AC. Its July 3rd and 84 in my apartment right now. So anything below 80 is almost orgasmic, and I hear people's units blowing when its like 75 outside, Im like 'what a waste'.

Overall, I just dont like what I term "false air". In the winter, Id rather battle cold with blankets and wool jammies than have heat blowing into my place (thank goodness for excellent insulation). And in summer, I dont like the idea of having windows closed (when would they EVER be open, if you dont open in summertime). And it makes me super appreciate those perfect spring and autumn days that much more.
Overall, low energy bill, increased toughness, summer noises.

I totally agree with this concept. It came to my mind recently because there are a couple of swanky lookin hotels in denver, and Id love to see the rooms, do the pool, dress up and have a drink at the hotel bar. Fabulous idea!!!!
Besides I cant afford a real awaycation right now.
