Oops, I almost forgot a peeve...people who let their little kids run all around the store! I HAVE two little kids, and I'd never dream of letting them roam like some patents do. Grocery store does not equal a playground. Mine stay in/on the cart or right next to me, or they don't get to come. The people who stop to talk to another person in the middle of the isle like it is Happy Hour! I mean, yes, I'm [generally] thrilled to run into friends and neighbors while out, but I don't think the bread isle is the best place to carry on hour-long conversations about your job, your sister's wedding, or your bunyons either. We have insanely sensitive detectors. Despite being 20 feet from it, the downstairs one frequently goes off over just the radiant heat from me opening the oven door. No smoke. Oddly enough, the last time there was smoke...nada. To make matters worse, ours are hard-wired through our 3-story townhouse, so if one goes off, they all do. It's a shame. They try to convince us we need specialized toys so they can sell us twice as much product. I always played with original LEGOs as a kid, and I wasn't the least bit under the impression that they were solely for boys. Of course, considering how all the new sets are very masculine-centric, I can see how they pigeon-holed girls out of the equation recently. LEGO Friends: Yay or Nay? |

Our "time out" spot used to be the stairs to our second floor. The first time I went back to find my 3-year-old lying sound asleep across a single step (about 15 steps from the bottom), I didn't know whether to giggle or panic!
