@charmac, I think the issue is somewhat more complicated. While more heat may escape the pot on a gas stove, the heating element uses the cooking fuel directly rather than through a series of transformations. In order for an electric element to heat your pot, a fuel (which might be natural gas) must be converted to heat, which is converted to mechanical energy, which is converted to electrical energy, which is transferred through the grid to your stove, where it is then converted back to heat. All of these transformations always have losses in energy (except converting electricity to heat). For example, according to the below website, the efficiency of a natural gas power plant is usually about 40%, meaning that only 40% of the natural gas energy is converted into electricity.

I put a car windshield reflector between my window and my closed blinds during the day in the summer. Worked like a dream.

I live in Sacramento, CA, where we get 110 F weeks, and this keeps the apartment liveable without AC, along with keeping the windows closed during the day and open at night.

Also, I have pet rabbits and keep them cool in the summer with frozen bottles of water and fans. Pets are often more susceptible to heat stress than healthy humans.

My vacuum cleaner worked so much better after I cleaned it. Totally worth it.

Honestly, I pull off moldy parts (of jam, bread, salsa...) and eat the rest. It grosses out my boyfriend, since there are still mold tendrils in the food, but I don't care. If it smells fine and tastes fine, I don't care.

And the only times I've gotten food poisoning were from cafeteria food when I was a kid, so it can't be all that bad!

But john doe, I think that all dudes' cojones are a kind of orange-ish pink color on the inside (and some dudes' cojones are pink on the outside as well).

Pink: the color of manliness. Or at least huevos.

I use my food processor at least twice a week, so I'm happy with it. I found a miniature but superpowered one on Freecycle.

Also, I make toast on the stove, in a frying pan. It comes out kind of different from using a toaster, but still tasty and fast.

I don't know. For me, trying to get all the Agricola pieces to fit back into the box is part of the game.

Unless I stick on a note with cooking instructions, I don't use stuff I buy in bulk. For me, that means I need to have the ratio of water to dry good and approximate cooking time on it.

While aloe vera is not poisonous, it can cause severe digestive upset if consumed. Aloe vera capsules are used as a laxative. I know that, in rabbits, consumption of aloe vera can be fatal. I don't know about toddlers.
