Get rid of the book shelves at left of the entry to the kitchen, it need some "air" originally there was a wall there with a entry to the kitchen you can clearly see that. Open kitchens are hot nowadays but keep in mind, you always have to keep it neat in order to have a nice looking overall view! Emily & Erick's Modern Eclectic British Eccentric Bungalow House Tour |

the kitchen open to the living room is a distraction, since there's too much going on there, one of the cabinets is coming off the wall, probably because of the load in and on top of it. Since you cannot sit at the bar, no sufficient knee space, I would close it up with an open from both sides bookcase. You get rid of all the books on top of the cabinets this way plus room for display some nice pieces. You still can peek into the living room but the entire view is less cluttered. I teach interior architecture at a college and I am very keen on organized spaces! I hope you don't mind my comment. Love your stove by the way! wall mounted tv is way too high, this must give you a headache, sitting down it should be mounted so that your head is slightly facing down " in a relaxed position " the distance here is way to short as far as I can see, remember with the old tube tv's we were not able to hang those things on the wall normally ( you could ) nobody ever did, there was a special tv table with the required height. Now every one, with these flat panels, don't think about the correct viewing ht.. :-) Samantha's Organic Global Love Nest Small Cool Contest |

the first one that I see with a nice furniture selection, except the bed that's a huge misser who wants to live in a hotel suite, I would have picked a Murphy bed wallunit! Geoff's Southern Exposure Studio Small Cool Contest |

do not remove the trapezoid, leave it alone and no tv above the mantle, every one has that now why should you? The tv should stay where it is you just can turn it a bit to avoid the reflection of the many windows. Oh yes Alistair is right I forgot to mention the flue is off that was the first thing that bothered me. Hivemind Designer: What Would You Do With This Wall? |

well we are neighbors, love the area I live here for a very long time and those apts from the twenties are just great. Now when you bought the place it was already remodeled and it looks like that was done in the eighties (I am a int,. architect and i know in that time this stile was very in vogue). Like the brick wall and the stepped clg by the way you must be on the top floor. Any way I agree with Katherine cover up the weird clg with all those steps way to busy, I liked the way she suggested to tackle the clg but that was not your problem. The entire fireplace wall looks like it was done by someone who has no regards for the style that was originally there. Queen Anne style which was very fashionable! The fireplace and mantle should stay and the the trapezoid and the faux cote of arms should be painted in all of the same color so it will even out. The mantle wood? could use a limestone color and just wood shelves for paint, I think the red is too overpowering why not paint the entire room in a sage color, you need to quiet down this place, all the other colors will work great. Oh do I hate that brick wall it simply does belong there it's so dated ( again to costly to put the drywall back and the baseboard. The Television is fine, put books on the shelves and pictures but not all that stuff on the mantle it clutters it up. Hivemind Designer: What Would You Do With This Wall? |

OK, I have a great tip for you guys, every one that I know use Arm&Hammer baking soda to refresh their fridge, after the time indicated on the pack you are advised to toss it out, well just use it then as a cleaning agent, it is known for over a century that Sodium Bicarbonate is a n excellent cleaning agent, 2 table spoons mixed in a gallon of water warm or cold does the trick (degreasing capabilities) you do not have to buy these synthetic cleaning agents, this one does the trick and gives you double the value for your money, try it. SO TRUE, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH PREVIOUS COMMENT, I LIVE IN CHICAGO GOLD COAST AREA WHERE STUDIOS ARE LARGER THAN THIS BY A 100 SQFT AND KNOWING LINCOLN SQUARE AREA IS A HOT PLACE TO BE THIS SPACE IS WAY TOO SMALL FOR CHICAGO LIVING UP THERE. VERY TASTEFUL DESIGN THOUGH! A Model Apartment: Jay Michael's Lincoln Square Style House Tour |

what a fabulous tasteful atmosphere, the only dissonant is the mastersuite I do not understand where that idea comes from so different than anything else. The drapery treatments need work but the color palette overall is gorgeous.... bravo! Catherine & Christofer's 1930's Budget Colonial House Tour |

as you will notice the ceiling in the livingroom is different, has a cove, than the kichen in the kichen there must have been an arched opening there, the countertop was under the high window that's why the window is different in sill ht. Suki's Gem On The Hill House Tour |

I am going to answer my own question, yes it is the bedroom was an addition it used to be one big open space, with the door to the bathroom and the kitchen in the corner where it is now, I am familiar with these studios here in Chicago and work in the architecture field. I always try to find the original structure. Suki's Gem On The Hill House Tour |
