It works amazingly well! I've been doing this for the last couple of years (and I think it was an AT post that started it all off). It's so much easier to find things, and put them away. Big improvement in my house anyway...

I want to follow you all, but I am too chicken to officially sign up - I did last year and failed miserably. We're just about to put our house up for sale so this is great timing. Looking forward to seeing all the great work you guys do!

I think people will continue to draw attention to writing style, as long as AT's editorial policy continues to create jarring pieces of prose.

"...now that we've moved into a 350-square-foot apartment with our significant other"? The third person singular here is annoying, difficult to read and in some cases, just nonsensical.

This is not what you're aiming for, especially as you've now built up a large base of loyal readers. We *want* to read the posts, why make it difficult for us?

Off topic, but I only saw the 'naked lady' after staring at the picture for about 6 minutes - lighten up, people!

And if you're going to be soo upset at someone breaking a glass, either use cheaper glasses or don't invite anyone to your house. Seems like a non-issue.

Indy Jeffrey, I wonder how valuable the PR for someone like Brian would be - I imagine the AT audience, being firm DIY-ers, wouldn't readily hire an interior designer.

I agree though, it would be good to know AT's position on endorsements in general.

Everyone says 'aww, it's so cozy!' I guess it's to be expected (600s.f 2-bed), but I'd prefer a more impressive adjective.

My brother came over the other day, and I noticed he was hovering by the door. I told him to sit down, and he said "where - on top of the cushions?" That was when I knew I'd gone overboard. I got rid of three and admittedly, it is much more comfortable to sit on the sofa now!

It's absolutely gorgeous - this is what my home will look like when I grow up :)
Also, it really reminds me of Frasier's apartment on the show - anyone else?

I really like it - this does however encompass two of my interior styling pet peeves - the "casually" placed shoes, and the floating flowers! Otherwise, really nice - sophisticated, but feels comfy as well...

OK so you like where you live, and that's lovely.

But do you really wake up in the morning, look around and think "yeah, this apartment really is the bees knees, you know what, we should enter some sort of interior design competition" and high-five each other?

You've done nothing that makes me think that was your intention. And the pictures also aren't the best quality. I just don't believe that you've really tried.

But you know what, all this feedback gives you something to work on for next year - come back and wow us! Or don't. But don't stop loving where you live - because that's the whole point of any of this.

Yes, it's very tastefully done, with enormous restraint. I won't be giving it a thumbs up just because I think it's quite bland, hasn't used any features I would call original, and because it's really rather large!

It's really impressive. But to me, what stands out about this is the quality of the styling and the photos - they are very clearly professionally done.

And that's perhaps what people are reacting to, in the 'showroom' comments. Not that it's a bad thing, but I think we're just conditioned to seeing more real homes in the AT contests...

Is it just me, or have there have been sooo many posts on this subject recently? I think the general consensus is that people like books, they broadly don't like to colour-code them (although some are fond of this look), and they definitely don't like them concealed, covered, turned back to front, or have their book-like nature subverted in any way. Can we all agree on this?

I have a cleaning lady, who is a godsend (I have many talents, but cleaning is not one of them).

I also buy fresh flowers once a week, since the last AT Cure. But I'm definitely going to look into ironing the sheets - I tried it once, and it took about 2 hours! But it was almost worth it...
