I like using a Realtor. Craigslist is too sketchy, and I have a large list of needs (we are picky about neighborhood and need a backyard, which is tough to find).

If you have a large budget and/or don't have special needs (like a yard, large pets, highly specific neighborhood needs, etc.) you should be fine hunting on Craigslist or with agents who have their fees paid by the landlord.

There is no way I'm letting my kids spend the night at someone's house unless I know every person that lives in the house really well and are comfortable with them.

I'm SO OVER the "good old days were better" implications. It's not good or bad that this doesn't happen any more. It just is.

There are always going to be people who will want to be informed of your "weird" rules (a sympathetic grandma, for instance, or a sister-in-law who is on the same page as you), and people who will laugh at best and take offense at worst. You have to use wisdom when sharing this kind of information so you aren't being rude.

cwiz24, I love Lenore's book Free Range Kids! It's a great way to look at balancing being over protective with using wisdom.

I loved my map of the world shower curtain, even if it was backwards while I was lathering up. I was at eye-level with the Baltic States!

6 months before our move to NYC we switched to the subway map, and I learned different routes around the city while I was... sitting.

You guys need to lighten up. It's not something I would bother with, either, but who cares? To each their own. Answer the question, or don't.

@chandlertoth, I LOVE the idea of crocheted bottle holders! I would do that, or use colored electrical tape (which is what they do on reality shows to cover the brand names on bottled water).

E. tape comes in lots of colors and is vinyl, so you could make a cool horizontal striped pattern with them.

I'd buy one just because Vince (the guy pictured here, but NOT in the previous post) has a great, inspiring story. He was shunned by the church of Scientology and he's trying to make money for his indie movie. It's an interesting tale.
