This is a great space. Almost as cute as the dog. Almost as cute as Matt.

The floors are beautiful too.

Hello everyone, I'm the creator of this give away. The scroll pictured in the sample is actually all the places I've lived - for those of you who were wondering.

I'm glad to see all the enthusiasm for Transit Design Bus Scrolls.

Good luck and be sure to visit my Etsy shop:

No contest main page? That's too bad. Makes it difficult to find.

This is my bulletin board, and all I actually used was Elmer's white school glue diluted with a bit of water. It needs to be the consistency of thick cream.

Now on to the more practical matters at hand:

@Mom2Two: The "Eat Drink" sign is from Retro Planet.com

@Bri2008: I used a tight sponge roller made for cabinets. It makes a slight orange-peel effect (not perfectly smooth), but I don't mind that. I did 3 coats.

@Suzy8Track: You can clean your cupboard with TSP before painting. But the Zinser primer goes over EVERYTHING. It's a miracle!

Before & After: Michael's Kitchen Makeover

Wow. I see that my kitchen make-over has garnered quite a bit of debate ... because of my cookie jar. *sigh*

I can assure you that I am not a racist, and I have the cookie jar as a reminder of personal memories of somebody I knew in my life.

And, yes, I am gay so I know what it feels like to be marginalized and judged by people who do not even know who I am. That being said I realize we all have symbols that resonate with us emotionally - whether they be good or bad.

So, I am sorry that my cookie storage offended some of you - but the meaning for me is from a loving place.

PS. I've never been to Portland :-) But it's on my list.

The paper does not affect the way the magnets work. Everything holds quite nicely.

@ gia99 - The dividers were at IKEA when I purchased the shelves 6-7 years ago. They were meant for CD's so maybe they aren't making them anymore?

@IndigoEllen - alas, you won't be able to find that magazine holder anymore. Sadly, Pottery Barn discontinued it several years ago. Depending where you live, you *might* find one on Craig's List. I've stumbled upon one now and then.

Glad to see that my map board has inspired some of you. Another note: If you want to make a newer map look vintage, tea-stain your decoupage medium with a teabag. It will give the map an aged look!

@madusa - thanks for the gardening tip. I just may consider that next season.

@gennan - you are a good friend and an amazing photographer. (Everyone check out Gennan's photography at http://gennan.com)

@indigotic - the star came from Cost Plus World Market a few holiday seasons ago. And I found the blinds on Overstock.com

@kushkush - My cat, Berkeley, loves living here. But he's an inside kitty! And the shower fixture was put in by the previous owner, but I think you can find an extension arm like this most anywhere.

UPDATE on Eiffel Tower Print (from living room):
It's titled "Anniversaire Eiffel" by Johanna Kriesel. All my research shows that it is now out of print. If you find one, snatch it up! Johanna's other prints can be found on Amazon, All Posters etc.

@emily - the "poster" you are asking about is actually one of my bus scrolls. I make them myself and they are available at my Etsy shop by clicking here: http://www.transitdesign.etsy.com

The Northern Michigan Bus Scroll is available, and I also create custom ones too!

@JeanieS -- I tried looking for the Tour Eiffel print after reading your comment. I can't find it either. I bought it several years ago whilst still living in CA.

@LovelyFrugal & Others - I have a fridge, but it's actually on the opposite wall of the sink. There's talk about showing a before and after of my kitchen, so maybe it will show up there.

Thanks again for all of your lovely comments. Traverse City is a lovely place to live and I'm happy to be back!

Wow! It's great to see your positive comments on my little home in Northern Michigan!

SturgeonGeneral - you can get the Sleeping Bear poster (along with others in the series) here http://www.forestgalleryglenarbor.com/online-shopping/

And SherryBinNH - the painting was super EASY. No sanding or prep (other than giving the surfaces a good cleaning). Be sure to use the Zinser Bulleyes I primer. I gave it 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint. I used a small cabinet sponge roller - so there is a slight "orange peel" texture - but you could also have your cabinets sprayed for a smoother finish.
