I second the book "Your Body" by Usborne-really any books published by Usborne. My four-year-old loves the flaps that you can open and discover what is underneath. Great Finds: Discovering the Human Body with Preschoolers |

We had a Brazilian cherry wood floors in our first home, with darker cabinetry in the kitchen. They were actually very easy to maintain and looked lovely together. I completely understand not wanting wood color tones that are too close, but in this case they were different enough to blend nicely. Light colored walls, stainless steel appliances, and lots of natural light certainly helped it feel bright inside. Dark Floors & Light Cabinets OR Light Floors & Dark Cabinets? Good Questions |

Storage is definitely important- I live in a country where closets in the home are not the norm. Investing in storage options helped me immensely, and there are growing number of budget friendly solutions. Minimizing what you really need and buy helps reduce extra items in the house. Items that serve multiple purposes help in small spaces, such as living room furniture that has built in storage, beds with storage under them, ect. I also keep toys with lots of small pieces either out of reach/sight or limited (as much as possible) to only one area of the home- such as arts&crafts, board games, and legos. When he asks for these monitored playthings, they are extra fun and special for him to play with because they are not out all day. I'm repeating EMMB's sightings.. In various places I've visited in the villages of the Middle East, the walls are multi-colored as a norm- often pale blue/green with a red border (or similar color combinations) near the floor and then again a white border covering the upper part of the wall and ceiling. I'd love to know a good cleaning solution also, but I think there may not be one!! I agree with other parents who have decided to avoid these kinds of bath toys. There are so many other options that are BPA free and can be sanitized. My son's favorite are the stacking cups with holes in the bottom allowing water to stream out. Besides that.. you wouldn't even have to get a changing table. You could use a changing pad and keep your supplies next to your bed. I never used a changing table and got a tall 6 drawer dresser instead which we shared for clothes storage. Save the money for your new home! Based on the timing of everything, and assuming you are not already pregnant, will you need more than a bassinet?? I used a bassinet for almost 5 months before we bought a crib. It will be so much fun decorating a separate room for your baby when you buy your first home. Good luck! Carving Out a Nursery Nook in a One Bedroom Condo Good Questions |

It really helps to have some kind of box or basket inside the drawer like the examples mentioned above. Newborn clothes are so tiny and don't always stack well when traditionally folded. It's always a puzzle to reorganize the clothes as they get bigger to fit the drawer! Also I had a three drawer dresser and didn't need all three until my son was into the 18 months 2t sizes. I used the bottom drawer for extra diaper or toy storage. Organizing Baby Clothes in a Dresser Good Questions |
