Best quilts ever. Space quilts. I wish I had a spare few thousand bucks with which to acquire one of these.

I would go with curtains hung right below the ceiling as well. Go with something light, possibly even a bit sheer, that ends just above the floor.

You might also consider larger groupings of art, or just larger art, as the walls are currently dwarfing your pictures.

Can't we just enjoy something now that looks nice without worrying about whether we'll be tired of it in the future? Everyone knows that even the most hideous of trends are cyclical.

Very attractive re-use of an old book, thanks for the tutorial. :)

FLOORS.

You could do whatever you wanted in that space, and it would look amazing because of those floors.

I love this.

Hey, here's an idea. How about we NOT have a judgmental conversation about what people do while they're crapping? It's their business, and I think that a post titled "Magazines in the Bathroom - Awesome or Icky?" is just plain stupid. I'm pretty sure it's not a "decorating habit", either.

A bag of Charlie's Soap and a couple of dryer balls are all I need to do laundry: get the best quality soap you can find, and you won't need to use stuff like fabric softener and bleach, which are bad for fabrics anyway.

Big blue Ikea bags are my favourite for transporting clothes, because you can fit a lot in them, and they have flat bottoms, so you can stack the folded clean ones and carry them back without everything getting messed up.

I have to say, though, don't use multiple machines at once unless you KNOW it's a time when no one else uses them. There are few things more irritating about a communal laundry room than coming down to find someone has filled all the washers or dryers at once. You may save time, but you run the risk of pissing off your neighbors, causing them to dump your wet or clean clothes on the floor.

Also, no one likes people who leave their clothes for extended periods of time, or for that matter, having their clothes dumped out/handled by a stranger. Bring a timer to sync with your machine so you can come back in a timely manner, particularly if there is a high demand for the machines.

And yeah, these are the things I learned from the college laundry room. I'm happy to have machines in unit now. XD

Me (The Woman): I like to have the house, but especially the bedroom, really, really cold. Like, leave the windows open in the winter cold. I also need a fan for air circulation and white noise. I'm a very light sleeper. I like to sleep on a fitted sheet, with a duvet bunched up all under and around me, all legs and arms sticking out for temperature regulation.

Him (The Man): He likes the house temperature to be "seasonally-appropriate". He's a heavy sleeper who snores and twists himself into weird positions if he gets too hot (which, weirdly enough, happens when it's too cold in the room, because he overcompensates by piling on all the blankets). He likes to sleep with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and a blanket.

We currently have a queen bed with totally different covers on each side, but I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in the five years we've been together, mostly because when I have the room cold enough for me to sleep, he bundles up, gets too hot, then thrusts limbs at me and snores REALLY LOUDLY. Being a light sleeper, I wake up.

I don't know what to do, because separate rooms aren't an option for us. :(

Lovely exterior, bland interior. I understand that renting sets limitations on paint and wallpaper, but there should be more colour introduced. Even if those colours are serene blues and greens.

Try something like this against the empty wall instead of having the TV diagonally in the corner. Getting it in a light color would help it to not feel heavy against the white woodwork.

For such a large, black rectangle, a TV cover might not also hurt, as those things tend to be black holes, sucking all eyes inward, particularly in a room with light walls.

This place is a) beautiful and amazing in every way and b) completely out of reach for anyone who isn't utterly stinking, filthy rich.

It's easier to have such an awesome place when you obviously have money to burn. I guess the rest of us will have to forgo the armoured angels and antique cabinetry and settle for Ikea and thrift stores. XD

This is a nice space, with good things...but I don't know. It lacks some cohesion, and while I appreciate the definite absence of the COHESION OVERLOAD sometimes present in the house tours featured on AT, I think it could use something to bring it all together a bit better.

I like that there is stuff in the house. Sounds weird, but sometimes houses look a little too spare and unnatural for a living space.

Why bother listing affordability as a plus when you compile a list like this? The only way an "industrial" look is affordable is if you go scavenging through renovation refuse heaps yourself. I don't know, maybe I'm just tight-fisted or something, but I would never spend $127 bucks on a laundry basket.

However, the photo compilation is great for ideas and looks nice.

Wow. I can't imagine feeling guilty about having even one small recycling bin, or about visiting my family once a year in France. She seems to view anything other than "perfect" as terrible and shameful (and yet rationalises away other things like having two motor vehicles: get a bike with a big basket and stop carrying 20 jars with you to the store.) . You should treat your environment, fellow man and creatures with care and respect. But no one is perfect and respectful all the time, not even Mother Nature. Even she says "f*ck it" sometimes, and throws a hurricane, or earthquake, or tsunami, or volcanic eruption our way. ;)

I don't understand how her family tolerates this kind of controlling nonsense. We are alive: wouldn't it be a good use of life to do your best to take care of your surroundings, but still, you know, live?

I like this. As someone with too much wall space, and not enough floor because I put my clothes all over it, this is an awesome answer to the problem.
