I have planted Early Girl to get things started early. I am hoping to have tomatoes by the 4th of july. I also have Brandywine heirlooms and Super Fantastic. I Didn't want to plant too many because I have a lot more growing in the garden too. I am using the square foot garden method and I love it. I even have a nice trellis for the tomatoes to grow on. If you are interested in seeing everything that I have growing, here is by blog. http://thegreenertruth.com/2010/05/planting-tomatoes-and-your-local-garden-center/

I think that it is important to be honest with people and let them know what you want. Everyone brings stuff to a housewarming party and there is no reason to have a bunch of napkins and wine glasses that you will never use. As long as you are respectful and let people know they don't need to bring anything I see no problem with it. After all, how much does a packet of seeds cost?

Just in time for Earth Day, I just saw this group trying to convince Obama to put solar Panels on the white House. They are offering them for free and all we have to do is convince the administration that it is worth while. Here is some more information and a link to where you can sign a petition to the President.

I love raised bed gardens. They are super easy and grow great vegetables. Here is another link that I found really helpful getting going on raised bed gardening. It uses a technique called square foot gardening that has some great tips for how to best utilize your space and grow organic vegetables. http://thegreenertruth.com/2010/03/square-foot-gardening/

This is a fantastic article. I always knew that my house had cold air leaking in (because I could feel it), but for one reason or another I never got around to taking care of the problem. This article has inspired me, and I am going to get to it this weekend along with the gardening that I am doing.

Reel mowers are the way to go. I saw a new design the other day that even makes it easier for those of us with a larger yard to get rid of our gas hogs. Here is the article that I saw on this new peddle powered reel mower.

This is a neat idea, but I don't know that it is really necessary. Why not just use a push reel mower or if you have a bigger lawn a peddle powered one like this one at The Greener Truth.
