Love the tiles.

I think it looks grand with the white mantle - the black is okay too but maybe a bit overpowering.

Please don't paint. It's beautiful and light and full of texture and character just as it is.

Um, my nightstand is a pile of house magazines. It kind of happened accidentally because I didn't have any furniture apart from my futon and a table and chairs when I moved in, but I'm actually quite happy with it. And because I have a futon so I'm very close to the ground. On the other side of the bed, I have a stack of dictionaries.

Oooh, my dream class! Does anyone know of this kind of thing in Paris?

@gustaf, that's totally unhelpful.

To my eyes, it looks lovely and sunny and warm and friendly. I like the way you've separated the bed from the couch. Definitely cool.

I don't understand this contest.

@leanne, the shelf is a grill and the "wings" are handles to take the grill tray in and out. They're designed like that so you can enjoy the smell when you're grilling bacon... or something like that.

I love it. It looks like a place for lazy mornings and long relaxing conversations. I think it's beautifully dishevelled.

Is that a light bulb on a super-long cord hanging to the right of the sofa? Super-cool.

In France you're looking at about 150 to 600 euros in somewhere like Leroy Merlin or Castorama (I've never been to the States but from reading AT I guess that would be like Home Depot). "Designer" towel rails can easily go into the thousands.

"Masters", please! Unless, of course, the title is meant to be "Master has at the art of living" or "Master is at the art of living".

I'd be worried about getting tipsy at dinner and laughing a little too loudly and tipping back in my chair just a leetle too far.... :)

Hey, sorry to see you got a bashing from some of the cretins who are posting such insightful, useful, vicious comments on these competition entries.

Anyway, just wanted to say I really like the square frames you have by your dresser. You mentioned you can't paint but it looks like your walls are already white... Have you thought about painting magnetic paint on the walls and then slapping some white back on top to make sure you get your deposit back? Could be a fun way to get more "picture" space that would be easy to switch around and free up some space on your shelves.
