It is a lamp from IKEA. I ripped the original shade, and replaced it by ordering a few more from, I think, paperlanterns.com. Since they are only a few dollars each, we bought a variety we can swap in and out.

The main issue is when we are both helping with the prep. There isn't enough room for two people in the kitchen working, so the one who isn't doing the cooking preps on the bar side, just passing stuff through to the other. When I cook alone, assuming the place is clean enough, the left and right of the sink are enough prep space, though things can't hang around when I'm done with them.

There are actually two chairs and a table that come together to form the bookcase. You can always use more chairs in a tiny place, but can't afford to have them all lying around. I found the inspiration for it online and built in myself. I wish I could find that post again. I'll continue looking.

Haha. Yes. We trained Eames to use the toilet using CitiKitty. Took about 4 months or so, but, after doing it once, We could probably do it again in the 6 weeks it claims. Eames is my first cat, so we kind of had to learn along with him.

Then, we installed an automatic flusher.

It was just a regular shipping/packing box. It was like one of these, but I'm not sure on the exact size. The bottom was easy. The top we just had to kind of fudge to get to work. We started with the two parts that extend up and create the roof and tab of the carton, and then just cut up the other two sides to fit inside. Taking apart an actually milk carton would have helped, probably. (: That would be my advice.

Actually, it was mainly two Galant table tops (roughly 4'x2'), one of which was cut in three, and Vika Moliden legs. For between the two Galant pieces, I grabbed a shelf that I found in the scratch and dent area, and cut that up to great the height between the dining top and the work top.

I hope that makes sense.

The cat bed I originally saw here. After contacting the designer and finding out it would cost $70+ to have one made and shipped to the U.S., I decided to create my own. The Container Store had just the right size box for less than $10. Eames loves it!

Hahaha. We did go a little overboard when we registered for the pillows! It's kind of a running joke now. Thanks for the comment, the cubby!

We added the shelves near the window for our cat, Eames. He loves to hop up there and waste the day watching the birds outside. (: Thanks for the comment, globaltastes.

(The TV is a little big. Haha.)

Before Megan and I married, I had the entire space behind the curtains as the bedroom, and the space in front as a living room. However, since combining the two spaces into one, we're afforded the space to have a dining room where most of our entertaining happens. I haven't much missed what used to be a living room, and enjoy immensely sitting down at an actual table for meals.

Its a trade off we made that others wouldn't want to. That's why the Small Cool contest is my favorite thing AT does: so many good, different ideas! Thanks for the comment, Drew!

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Much appreciated. They will inspire us to make the place even nicer.

The bed is a full-size bed. I'd love to have a queen or king, but in our space, to us, it wasn't worth giving up the extra room for. I understand that, to others, it would be totally worth it, and if we move into a bigger space in the future, a bigger bed would definitely be on the shopping list.

The dining table I made myself out of IKEA parts. It is our version of this table featured on AT.

I, too, got two sets from Lowe's eight (!) years ago for about $80 each, and are still in good enough condition to be used as my entertainment center in my studio. In the past, they have been closet shelves, a desk, and general storage. These things are so versatile and take a beating.

When I saw the title and first image of this post, I thought for sure I would see some of Crumpler's smaller bags on here. They make some great looking day packs.

kvh,

If you have an external keyboard/mouse and a monitor, you can use the MacBook or the MacBook Pro while closed. The keyboard or mouse will wake the computer despite being closed.

Aulaire, I think I read somewhere it is because of the impurities in the water that causes it to turn white. Try using pure, filtered, or distilled water.

Gah!

Can someone help me with the name of the chairs below the wall of pictures? I've seen them in all white and all black, and usually sold in sets of two. I had it written down somewhere, but I think I threw it away. If I recall, they were about $160-180 for a pair of them.

Thanks!
