I don't know if anyone has said this yet, but I feel like that space is begging for a sectional! No coffee table, just a huge luxurious corner couch. I realize this may be a "someday" thing, but man. Coffee Table Style & Size for Small Space? Good Questions |

I will try this with my bathroom door. I removed it back in June when I put in the new floor, and when I re-hung it, even though all the screws seem tight, it doesn't close properly without some extra force. Hope it works! Add another voice to the chorus of "don't change the cabinets or the hardware". I, too, have the same cabinets and hardware in my 1949 house. The cabinets are in fine shape, if a bit dinged up from so many years of use. I was dubious about the hardware when I moved in, but realized that with the hinges matching the handles exactly, it would be an all-or nothing proposal and I was not up to the task. I would definitely screw something like that up irreparably. I have learned to love my retro hardware and love seeing other homes with it still intact. I think the suggestions of other posters with regard to painting and decluttering will make the cabinets and hardware that much more charming. Good luck! I sent in pictures of my bedroom for "room for color" last year and wasn't even chosen as a contestant. I thought my pictures were better than a lot of what I saw, so I don't really understand AT's decision making process on these things. Not very encouraging though, for entering anything else. Sorry if that sounds bitter, but that's how I roll. Enter Our Newest Contest Now: My Bedroom Retreat |

Oh I did this years ago with my little vintage swivel rocker. The feet would scratch the floor when I moved it for cleaning, so I put some old baby socks on them. They could not usually be seen though, since the chair has an upholstery skirt. However, they did fall off a lot, so I finally duct taped them on recently. It's not ghetto if you can't see it, right? Oh man this was so rad. I really want to stay motivated and keep doing the things on my checklist. I am still moving art around (I think I've just about reached the saturation point for art on the walls - might not be able to get that awesome Totoro print) and planning on how to paint the living room. But now is the time of year when I have to start weed-whacking about once a week, so we'll see how much time I have to get things done. Thanks everyone! I've really enjoyed reading your posts and following along. <3 Day 23: Weekend Chores - Pat Yourself on the Back, Relax & Celebrate! Apartment Therapy January Cure |

Agree with everyone who has said how awesome this has been. I can't even believe how much I got done this month, and a lot of it was not even on my original list of projects. I got a bit sidetracked mid-month with getting ready to have the house appraised and also by getting sick, but I mostly caught up. Oh, and the appraisal came in quite higher than my broker had anticipated, so if all else goes well, I should be refinanced by the end of this month! Woo! Thanks everyone. It has been really fun reading all the posts and seeing pictures too. Until next time! Day 22: Shop for the Get Together Goodies Apartment Therapy January Cure |

I am going to do my weekly spruce-up Friday night/Saturday morning as I usually do to prep for massage clients. Participating in the Cure has certainly made that whole process easier and more enjoyable. Oh my, well, went a little overboard with the "frame your art" assignment! Since Aaron Brothers was/is having their twice yearly big sale, I went ahead and got frames for, oh, I think 14 things. They were NOT fancy or costly by any means, and I got a smattering of variety so everything would not be matchy-matchy. I used them mostly for an art wall where I had what was supposed to be a modular display of my daughter's art work, but it ended up being pretty stable, so I just framed a lot of the pieces and hung them back up. I also hung some art in my room that had been leaning and I am planning on moving a few other pieces around. I took a couple of photos. Please visually disregard the lower right corner. The piece with her academic awards is leaning and not an official part of the display, but it will have to stay where it is for now. In the context of the room, it doesn't really detract from the overall effect. Anyway: Day 20: Hang Your Artwork Apartment Therapy January Cure |

Wow. I have spent the last 2 weeks getting ready for this appraisal, and it was all over and done in about 10 minutes. He kind of said his job is to make sure the house is here and it is the size I say it is and there is no major damage. So there you are. I did it! I actually cleaned the living room pretty darned thoroughly this evening. Since I have massage clients over on weekends, it's usually pretty tidy anyway, but I really went after some things that get neglected on a week-to-week basis. I've got this one. With a bunny that runs around the living room, we can't have any unprotected cluttery cords around in there. The rest of the house is okay too as far as that goes. Which means maybe I can do yesterday's assignment today. And I still haven't cleaned my room and don't know when I will have the energy to do so. Sigh. There is so much "no" in these photos (if you follow the link) that I don't even know where to begin. This is some weird art installation, not a home where people can actually live safely. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of weird art installations, but this cannot be a "family home". A French Barn Turned Quirky Family Home Trendland |
