I like a couple of these, but I kind of wish there were actual instructions somewhere.

Scuttled: I have known some people who never do use a bathroom other than their own. There is apparently something very primal and deep at work in some people's psyches around bathroom issues.

As for the topic at hand, I suppose since I installed a very colorfully patterned Talavera sink in my bathroom and painted the walls in several intense colors, there isn't really a need to hang art on the walls in addition.

Toilet seat down. I may need to place a small, discreet sign requesting that guests follow this example also.

No lid on the trashcan. Hmm.

Chindi rug on the floor which gets changed out and washed frequently.

People like my bathroom, or so I am told.

No one said anything about the name of the product yet? I get to be the first to point out the unfortunate connotation "stooler" has?

I will try this with my bathroom door. I removed it back in June when I put in the new floor, and when I re-hung it, even though all the screws seem tight, it doesn't close properly without some extra force. Hope it works!

I sent in pictures of my bedroom for "room for color" last year and wasn't even chosen as a contestant. I thought my pictures were better than a lot of what I saw, so I don't really understand AT's decision making process on these things. Not very encouraging though, for entering anything else. Sorry if that sounds bitter, but that's how I roll.

Oh I did this years ago with my little vintage swivel rocker. The feet would scratch the floor when I moved it for cleaning, so I put some old baby socks on them. They could not usually be seen though, since the chair has an upholstery skirt. However, they did fall off a lot, so I finally duct taped them on recently. It's not ghetto if you can't see it, right?

Agree with everyone who has said how awesome this has been. I can't even believe how much I got done this month, and a lot of it was not even on my original list of projects. I got a bit sidetracked mid-month with getting ready to have the house appraised and also by getting sick, but I mostly caught up. Oh, and the appraisal came in quite higher than my broker had anticipated, so if all else goes well, I should be refinanced by the end of this month! Woo! Thanks everyone. It has been really fun reading all the posts and seeing pictures too. Until next time!

Oh my, well, went a little overboard with the "frame your art" assignment! Since Aaron Brothers was/is having their twice yearly big sale, I went ahead and got frames for, oh, I think 14 things. They were NOT fancy or costly by any means, and I got a smattering of variety so everything would not be matchy-matchy. I used them mostly for an art wall where I had what was supposed to be a modular display of my daughter's art work, but it ended up being pretty stable, so I just framed a lot of the pieces and hung them back up. I also hung some art in my room that had been leaning and I am planning on moving a few other pieces around. I took a couple of photos. Please visually disregard the lower right corner. The piece with her academic awards is leaning and not an official part of the display, but it will have to stay where it is for now. In the context of the room, it doesn't really detract from the overall effect. Anyway:

I did it! I actually cleaned the living room pretty darned thoroughly this evening. Since I have massage clients over on weekends, it's usually pretty tidy anyway, but I really went after some things that get neglected on a week-to-week basis.

That said, this is the only thing I have completed from this week's assignments. I have really fallen behind. But I have several hours tomorrow before the appraiser comes to at least take stabs at the other stuff. AND I did get a bunch of stuff done that wasn't even on my project list (that should have been), including cleaning up the front and backyards and having the junk hauled away (hooray for having a friend with a trailer who will trade for massage!).

I do intend to complete all the assignments and probably more. I really feel the momentum and can't wait to have the whole house is order, all at once. It's really never been that way.

Does anyone else also feel like now that things are getting clean and neat, you are also continuously putting more effort into keeping it clean as you go? Especially in the kitchen, I find myself putting just a little more effort into keeping the counters neat and clean and things like that. I really think that a big part of "curing" your home involves establishing new habits and routines so that it doesn't all have to be done with one big push once or twice a year, but with better habits, the whole home can be kept better on an ongoing basis. At least, that's the idealist view =).
