I pared down the people on my gift-giving list a few years ago. The people on it include those who gave birth to me, those I gave birth to, and anyone I'm spending Christmas day with. This year I'm happily adding those who married someone I gave birth to. I also minimize the decorating if I'm not going to be at my house on Christmas day. I used to literally make myself sick every year running around trying to get everything done. How to Stay Sane & Enjoy the Holidays |

Dyson products are pricey but definitely not "junk." I've had my Dyson vacuum cleaner for 8 years. It still works better than any other brand I've owned. The two vacuum cleaners I had prior to that lasted one year and cost about $130 each. So let's see $130 per year versus $62 ($499/8) per year for my Dyson. I would say that's half the price except I'm expecting my Dyson to keep going. James Dyson on Dyson Hot: A Smarter Space Heater |

I've always had good luck at JC Penney. Good selection, lots of sales. There's a 300 count Egyption cotton sheet that I keep buying and have been very happy with. How to Shop for Bedding on the Cheap |

You can have mediocre food and drinks, but you can't have mediocre music. Music is something that most people overlook and I've actually seen people leave a party because they didn't like what they are listening to. I've never seen people leave a party because the beer was cheap. All the party elements aside, the key to having a fun party is to have fun yourself. Everyone will take the cue from you. Hugglesthebear and chrisbean are right. This is very easy to duplicate. I found a mid-century modern dining room chair on the street, painted it approximately the same color as the Fox Point armchair (photo 1) and recovered the seat. The total cost was $36. The finish is beautiful. I get compliments on it everytime someone visits. I just did this last Spring so not sure about lasting, but I don't really care since it was only $36 and I'm not sure I want to live with that color more than a year or two anyway. Please tell me where you got that table on photo number 26. It would fit perfectly in my livingroom. Revisiting Ginger's 'A Little Classic, A Little Quirky' Home House Tour | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

Get one of your own photographs printed onto canvas; many professional photography printers do this now. My local shop will print a 40" by 60" for $380. The bonus is that it is a very personal piece of artwork. Other than that I'd check secondhand furniture stores. Good Sources for Oversized & Affordable Artwork? I lived in my last place for more than 17 years. I fully expected to have that "moment" when I was ready to leave. I even planned on walking around, reviewing the memories. But what really happened was after cleaning out 17 years worth of stuff over 6 weeks I was ready to just toss the keys at my landlady on the way out. I've been gone for 6 months now and haven't really missed the place at all. My new place is by far my favorite and getting better all the time. Funny. I just move from a 960 sq ft apartment. I never considered it small, but I suppose size is relative. BTW, my new place is 500 sq ft. I'm having a great time creatively finding storage. The 6th Annual Small, Cool Home Contest Coming Soon! | Apartment Therapy New York |
