We live in the city and with all our family here in and around the city, we won't be moving anytime soon. Come back and visit (and you know the best months to do that are in September and October!)

A protractor. We used it one time in the 4th grade and then never used it for the rest of the year. Completely useless!

Here in San Francisco, or maybe its just the neighborhood and the parents email listserv that I subscribe to, there appears to be a growing backlash to the goodie bag. I just don't see the point of them at all. We've never given them out and the ones we've received (my son forgets about them by the time we've gotten home) have been tossed into a bag in the back of the closet. We joke that we're saving all the goodie bag junk to put into a pinata for kids to take back to their homes.

I made fitted sheets for our mini crib and it wasn't difficult at all. This tutorial does seem rather fussy with the serger stitch, the one I found on Craftster required the very basic zig-zag stitch and 36 inches of thin elastic. $24 for sheets is out of my budget, so don't give up before even trying it out, you'd be surprised how quickly these sew up, I made three in about two hours time. Just do some research on the Internet beforehand and there are tutorials like this all over the place.

We have Museum Trip by that same author, Barbara Lehman. My son loves it because it is a wordless book with a series of mazes that the little boy has to get through. Good to know there are other great books by that author!

If I had a few hours in the house alone, I'd finish up some sewing projects - so I guess that counts as me time. But inevitably what happens is I spend that time cleaning the house because having a house makes me feel better.
